Assistant/Associate Professor – Acting

The Theatre and Dance Department at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Acting. Individuals with expertise in stage performance as well as experience in film/television, higher education, or Stanislavski-based methodologies are encouraged to apply. The department is particularly interested in candidates with any of the following: non-Western acting methods, devising, directing, dance, site-specific performance, digital performance, or the dramatic literature/history of any area of American ethnic or multicultural theater; experience in anti-racist and/or decolonizing theatre making practices.

The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses in Performance including (but not limited to) beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of acting, Improvisation, Stage Movement, Acting for the Camera, and additional courses related to the candidate’s specific expertise, and Direct at least one production in the program’s mainstage season per academic year. This position will help develop a digital/film performance curriculum in addition to teaching current performance courses.

This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

Variable Fund

Does putting money in the Variable Fund make sense for you? You and your employer put money in to your WRS account to save for your future. The money in your account is then invested to increase your savings. By default, your money goes into the Core Fund, but you can choose to put half your money into the Variable Fund.

All wellness incentives paid to participants are considered taxable income to the group health plan subscriber and are reported to their employer, who will issue a W2. In some cases, the Wisconsin Retirement System acts as the employer. Retirees, continuants and their spouses will have some taxes withheld from the incentive amount earned.

Union Facilities Technician

This position reports to the Associate Director of Union Operations and Inspects, maintains, and repairs basic equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, and operational maintenance.

The Union Facilities Technician is a member of the University Union operations staff with the primary responsibility of maintaining the University Union & Dining equipment, furniture, and building facilities. This position will perform proper preventative maintenance, building & equipment repairs and assist in the replacement of items. This position will work to create a safe and inclusive environment for all UW Green Bay students where all feel a sense of place and pride.

GEAR UP Services Specialist

This position reports to the Executive Director, Early College Programs and delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. Assists with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.

The GEAR UP Services Specialist coordinates educational programs for 6th-12th grade students enrolled in the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program (GEAR UP). As the higher education partner, UW-Green Bay works with the Department of Public Instruction’s Wisconsin Educational Opportunity Program (WEOP) to identify programming for students including dual enrollment, digital badging and other educational programs that support GEAR UP goals. The GEAR UP Services Specialist works closely with the Executive Director of Early College Programs to track program enrollment data and create detailed reports reflecting services provided and budget expenditures. This position calls for a highly organized, flexible, and self-directed individual with excellent communication skills. This one year-100% position is funded through the UW-Green Bay partnership with the state GEAR UP program and is renewed on an annual basis upon continuance of funding and satisfactory performance. The GEAR UP grant is a 7-year, renewable grant with funding through 2026.

Meet your Facilitator: Shannon Leslie

Shannon Leslie is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas, who has worked in the child welfare system for eight and a half years. She has worked with individuals, adolescents, parents, couples, and families who have experienced trauma, relational, mental health, substance abuse, and other concerns.  Shannon has gained valuable knowledge over several child welfare roles throughout her career. One role she describes as “life altering”, was when she transitioned to an in home therapist for a research project partnered through Kansas University. Shannon’s role allowed her to elicit strengths in others to empower positive changes needed to obtain their goals in child welfare.  Through evidence based and strengths based interventions, Shannon successfully helped others reach positive outcomes.  Upon completion of the research project, Shannon transitioned to Training Specialist in her organization.

Shannon has been in a training role for five years. Shannon believes what we focus on we grow, positive or negative. She is described as enthusiastic, positive, and engaging. Shannon finds herself passionate when motivating, inspiring, and empowering others through training. Additionally, she enjoys training on empathy, perspective, and the impact we have on others. Shannon’s training role has allowed her to be a support to staff. Shannon often is sought out to help manage conflict, encourage, and retain employees. She is known for being the go to person for motivation and support. She has successfully planned and executed employee appreciation events for over 800 employees.

Shannon received her Bachelors from University Missouri-Kansas City and her Masters from Friends University. Shannon has held certifications as a Parent Management Training-Oregon Model therapist, trainer, and coach (5 years). She has completed Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and has been a committee member for the Kansas Governors Conference and Community Violence Action Committee-COMVAC (3 years). Shannon enjoys spreading kindness and is invested in making positive change occur through training and her interactions with others.
