Camps and Conferences Coordinator – Open to UW System Employees Only

The Camps and Conferences Coordinator reports to the Director of Continuing Professional Education.  This position coordinates the planning and execution of summer camps, lifestyle programs for adults, and conference support in the Office of Outreach and Extension.  In addition, this person is the liaison and provides oversight to the Learning in Retirement program.  This person is also responsible for the hiring and supervision of seasonal employees, students, volunteers, and camp instructors. This person also supervises two University staff members who provide support to the programs.

Outreach Specialist – Phuture Phoenix (Open to UW System Employees Only)

The Outreach Specialist reports to the Director of the Phuture Phoenix program, and assists with the leadership, operation, and management of the Phuture Phoenix program.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate on-campus Phuture Phoenix Campus Visit Days for local school districts.
  • Serve as program liaison with K-12 schools.
  • Assist in the preparation and tracking of grants.
  • Provide support in the scholarship process.
  • Assist in the organization, scheduling, and participating of fundraising events.
  • Develop and deliver presentations about the Phuture Phoenix program in schools and in an educational conference setting.
  • Oversee and support the work of the Phoenix Phellows both on campus and in the K-12 schools.

Employee Spotlight: Jemma Lund

LUND CROPUW-Green Bay students can jet off to study in foreign lands, such as Spain, Cuba, Mexico, United Kingdom and Germany, just to name a few, in our study abroad program by speaking with Jemma Lund, UWGB’s Study Abroad Coordinator in the Office of International Education. The study abroad programs award UW-Green Bay students credit and enable them to stay on track with graduation requirements. Jemma is advisor for the study abroad programs and promotes the program on campus. She has been with the university and program for about 4½ years, three of those years as part-time and then became full-time in spring of 2014.

Jemma is a dedicated, passionate and engaged person on campus who loves the outdoors, reading and travel. She enjoys talking with students, giving study abroad presentations and working with faculty to plan travel courses.

Summary of what you do:   I promote study abroad on campus, manage application system and I am the advisor for study abroad programs.

How long have you been employed: Total of about 4½ years, a little over one year in my current position.

Brief history of employment with UWGB: Worked part-time in this position from 2011-2014, moved to full-time in spring 2014

Three words that describe you: Dedicated, Passionate, and Engaged

Personal interests: Outdoors, Reading and Travel

Random facts/interests: I lived in Turkey for about two years, I’m a secret baker and bring treats for our interns and I’m the only one I know with a Smithsonian magazine subscription.

– If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day? I think it would be fun to do a travel show somewhere and be a host.

– If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Probably nachos.

– People would be surprised if they knew: I went to Syria on vacation in 2009 and spent a week traveling the country

– What advice would you give to recent new hires? If you’re not from Green Bay, get to know the city and try to get involved on campus in order to meet people.

– What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I love talking with students and working with faculty to plan travel courses.

– What book did you read last? James Patterson

– What books are at your bedside? Any mystery or crime fiction

– What do you always want to try and never did? Skydiving

– What does a typical day look like for you? A little bit of everything!  Meeting with students, checking applications, giving presentations, preparing visa paperwork, updating the website, posting on social media, brainstorming new promotion ideas, meeting with faculty travel course leaders, etc.

– What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?  Those that mind don’t matter and those that matter don’t mind.

– What would people never guess you do in your role? All the paperwork!

– What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? Guinea pig in Ecuador.

– What’s your favorite thing to do in Green Bay? I live in De Pere, I really like to go for a bike ride on the trails, meet friends for happy hour, see some live music or Comedy City on the weekend.

Printing Manager and Content Assistant

The Printing Manager and Content Assistant within the Marketing and University Communication Office serves as the campus print purchasing manager.  This position reviews all complex and routine campus requests for outside printing and determines the appropriate printing vendor; provides advice to members of the campus community regarding their University-related printing needs; develops bid specifications for complex and/or specialty printing jobs that are not covered by state contract and analyzes vendor bids for pricing to ensure compliance with specifications and awards contracts in accordance with state law. This position will also assist with content proofing and brand management (editing and/or posting blogs, press releases, photo galleries and other duties as assigned) for the Office of Marketing and University Communication.

University Videographer/Photographer

The University Videographer/Photographer reports to the Director of Marketing and provides a range of media-related services which support the University Marketing, Admissions, Advancement and Chancellor’s offices.  This position will serve as the University’s photographer and videographer at both media and University events as needed.  This position is responsible for bringing a creative perspective to video, digital photography, and image capture of campus news, landscapes, advancement (donor and alumni, candid shots, portraits, and sports action), on location and in the studio.

Health Educator

The University of Wisconsin – Green Bay seeks a dynamic Health Educator for a three-year, 50% position at the Counseling and Health Center (CHC).  This position is responsible for providing and coordinating sexual assault and violence prevention trainings and programming. This person also serves as the back- up Sexual Assault Coordinator, providing advocacy and support to victims who report sexual assault or violence. The Health Educator will work collaboratively with campus and community to implement evidence-based programming to students, faculty and staff recognizing cultural, social justice and student health issues, and using theoretical frameworks and evidence based approaches.
