Employee Spotlight: Gail Sims-Aubert

UW-Green Bay students can rest easy in the housing on campus with Gail Sims-Aubert as the Director of Residence Life. Gail has been overseeing daily operations and all facets of student housing at UW-Green Bay since October 2013.

Gail was born and raised in a small town, Bruning, Nebraska (population 300). She is one of five children and a first generation college graduate with a BA in Broadcast Sales/Management and Master’s Degree in Speech Communication. Gail religiously reads her hometown newspaper every week (Hebron Journal Register) because it keeps her “in the know” with small town life. Gail is married and has two wiener dogs, Thelma and Louise. She is an organized, thoughtful and detail-oriented person who loves fitness, cycling, watching college basketball (Go Phoenix!) and reading.

Gail loves working with her staff of professionals and students, because no two days are ever the same. One of the most important things Gail has learned in life is to say what’s on your mind, because life may not give you a second chance.

– If you could change one thing about working here, what would it be? The winter weather!

– If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be? My Dad. He passed away when I was quite young, and I’d love to pick his brain about a lot of things.

– If your house was burning down, what’s the one non-living thing you would save? My parents wedding photo

– What does a typical day look like for you? Lots of meetings.

– What else do you do for fun? Clean my house – I know it’s odd.

– What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery? Pay off my husband’s student loans.

– What is your favorite sport? I love to watch college basketball.

Welcome Jake Timm!

Timm_WebJake started in Athletics as the Director of Multimedia Services on September 1, 2014.  Previous to Green Bay athletics, Jake worked in TV news in Wisconsin and Virginia. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV/Film from UW-Oshkosh. He is originally from Manawa, Wis. where he now lives with his wife and three young daughters.  Welcome, Jake!

Ben SwankBen started in Athletics as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach on May 4, 2015. Ben is an alumna of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Health and Physical Education – Teacher Certification.  He served as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Flordia Southern University for the past two years.  He is originally from Edinboro, PA.  Welcome, Ben!

Kate is an alumna of UW-Green Bay where she earned her degree in English and Humanistic Studies in May 2013. Last year she worked part-time as a Digital Humanities Technology Consultant for the Humanistic Studies department. She is from Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Welcome, Kate!

Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and President of the UW-Green Bay Foundation

The University of Wisconsin—Green Bay (UWGB) seeks an experienced and innovative leader to serve as Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and President of the UWGB Foundation. The Vice Chancellor reports to the Chancellor and serves on the Chancellor’s Cabinet. The Division of Advancement plays a key role in institutional and community partnership development, and organizes and directs all institutional fundraising, stewardship and alumni operations in collaboration with the Deans, Athletic Director of the UWGB Phoenix Division I athletic program, senior leaders, the Council of Trustees, and the UWGB Foundation. Building on a recent successful capital campaign, the Vice Chancellor will develop and deploy a comprehensive and strategic advancement plan that leverages the University’s unique interdisciplinary approach in support of student access and success, institutional growth, and community engagement. The Vice Chancellor serves as President and ex-officio member of the board of the UWGB Foundation.

The Research and Research Sharing Librarian supports the UW-Green Bay mission of teaching, learning, and research through the effective and efficient management of the Interlibrary Loan department.  This position participates in the library instruction program and provides reference and research services to the University community.

The Research and Instruction Librarian supports the UW-Green Bay mission of teaching, learning, and research by providing reference services and information literacy support to all library users, with an emphasis on business support. This position serves as the point person for the creation and maintenance of online learning objects and tutorials for library resources and information literacy skills in all academic disciplines.

Textbook Department Manager

The Phoenix Bookstore at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay seeks applicants for a Textbook Department Manager.  Under general supervision of the Bookstore Director, the Textbook Department Manager is accountable for all functions in the textbook department of the bookstore.  This position will collaborate with faculty to obtain book requirements for courses, coordinate the purchase of course materials for resale, pricing, display, and inventory control, and oversee the return of unsold inventory to vendors. This position is also responsible for maintaining awareness of enrollment to properly adjust course material order.

University Services Associate 2 (9-month)

The University of Wisconsin – Green Bay seeks applicants for a University Services Associate 2 in the Dean of Students Office.  The University Services Associate 2 reports to the Assistant Dean of Students, and is responsible for program support for the campus judicial system, Assistant Dean of Students, Student Rights & Responsibilities Coordinator, Dean of Students, Peer Conduct Review Board, Dean of Students Office staff and Student Services.  This position is a full-time university staff appointment working mid-August through early June. This appointment is approximately 9-months, tied to the academic year with no expectation of employment during the summer months.
