The Austin E. Cofrin School of Business welcomed Yun Meng on August 22, 2016, as an Assistant Professor of Finance.

Yun previously worked for the University of South Florida for one year, where he taught various courses in finance, including Principles of Investments, Financial Markets and Institutions, Principles of Finance and Money, and Banking.  He has presented at various academic conferences, including the Florida Finance Conference, the Finance Management Association, and the Southern Finance Association.

Yun earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Chongqing in China, a Master’s Degree in statistics from the University of Arkansas, and a Ph.D. from the University of South Florida.

Yun is from Chongqing, China, a beautiful mountain city that is famous for spicy food and hot weather.

Athletics welcomed Molly Christel on August 1, 2016, as the Assistant Director of Ticket Sales.

Molly graduated from UW-Green Bay in May with a degree in Business Administration and an emphasis in Management. As a student, she was a ticketing intern for Athletics in addition to working at Shorewood Golf Course.

In her free time, she enjoys playing golf, watching the Packers, and volunteering for the Manitowoc County Health Department.

Molly is from Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

University Advancement welcomed Lance Cavanaugh on January 1, 2016, as Vice Chancellor and President of the UW-Green Bay Foundation.

Lance has worked in fundraising and public relations for 37 years.  Before coming to UWGB, Lance was Vice President for Development at the University of Arizona Foundation in Tucson.

His hometowns are Madison and Duluth.

The Registrar’s Office welcomed Nou Moua on November 16, 2015, as a Technical Support Specialist.

Nou has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Technology Infrastructure from UW-Whitewater and comes to us from Schneider National, where he was a Data Center Operator for four years.

You may see Nou at the Green Bay Downtown Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, where he sells smoothies and bubble teas.  He was born in Thailand in a refugee camp and immigrated to Green Bay in September 1988.

Humanistic Studies welcomed Pang Yang on October 27, 2015, as an Academic Department Associate.

Pang has a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies from Central Michigan University, and is originally from Mcbain, Michigan.

Pang comes to us from the Brown County Department of Human Services, where she worked for two years.

Leslie Walfish was welcomed on August 22, 2016, by Art and Design as a Curator of Art and Instructor of Arts Management.

Leslie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from James Madison University, a Master’s Degree in Art History from the University of Arizona, and a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

Leslie was the Curator of the Edna Carlsten Gallery at UW – Stevens Point and the Gallery and Collections Coordinator at Lawrence University.  She serves as a board member on the Winnebago Historical Society and is a volunteer at the Paine Art Center and Gardens.

Leslie’s hometown is Springfield, Virginia.

On March 1, 2016, Janet Bonkowski was welcomed by the Office of Marketing and University Communications as the new Director of Communications and Marketing.

Janet earned degrees in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.  She is accredited in Public Relations, Public Relations Society of America.

Janet previously worked 11 years for Schneider and is involved in various community activities.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Denmark State Bank and the Center for Childhood Safety, is President of the Wisconsin Alumni Association of Brown County, is on the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation Basic Needs Committee, and is a volunteer at St. Matthew School.

On November 11, 2015, Marisa Leza De Rosa was welcomed by Admissions as an Admissions Counselor.

Marisa earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Communications, from St. Norbert College.  She previously worked as a Hispanic Outreach Coordinator for two years.

Marisa is a member of Voces de la Frontera (non-profit organization advocating for immigrant rights) and is a lector and member of St. Philip Church.  She was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, but grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

On June 20, 2016, Michelle Goetsch was welcomed by the Office of Grants and Research as a Development Specialist.

Michelle previously worked for UW-Stevens Point as a grant writer/proposal coordinator for 2.5 years and prior to that was a communication specialist for Aspirus, Inc. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Michigan, followed by a Master’s Degree in Life Sciences Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Outside of work, Michelle and her husband are involved in lots of kids’ activities with their boys Maddox, age 4, and Dylan, age 10 months. She is from Battle Creek, Michigan.

On July 1, 2016, Jagadeep Thota was welcomed by the Natural and Applied Sciences Department as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Jagadeep is from Bangalore, a southern city in India. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Bangalore University, India. He did his M.S. and Ph.D. studies from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. All three of his degrees are in Mechanical Engineering.

After his doctorate, Jagadeep worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar for three years at the Center for Materials and Structures at UNLV. Jagadeep also worked for the University of Alabama in Huntsville as a Lecturer for three years. His research experiences include experimental and computational analysis of structures under severe loading conditions, such as explosions and projectile impacts; developing optimization codes for design improvements in structures; shock mitigation, with emphasis on structures with bolted joints; and experimental characterization of polymer composites, metallic, and new generation materials under normal and extreme environments.

Jagadeep has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed international technical papers and has won several outstanding paper and poster awards. He was honored with an outstanding academic achievement award at UNLV. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. He has been an advisor for the historic and prestigious engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi, both at UNLV and UAH. He has been active as a judge, mentor, and inspector in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) events such as FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge, for high school and middle school students. After experiencing the extremes of Las Vegas heat and Huntsville humidity, Jagadeep is looking forward to the “pleasant” Green Bay winters.
