Director of Human Resources – Open to UW System Employees Only

Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for the administration and management of a comprehensive human resources program for the university. Areas include recruitment and selection, titling and compensation planning, orientation, organizational and staff development, payroll preparation and processing, administering the employee health and wellness programs, Human Resources Information Systems, aiding in planning, development, implementation and maintenance for university policies, operational procedures and guidelines, employee and labor relations, coordination of campus-wide human resource activities and management of the human resources and equity and affirmative action units.

The Director of Human Resources must assure compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations including Equal Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.  Work involves frequent communication with all levels and categories of employees across the campus including the Vice Chancellor and Provost for Academic Affairs Office, Secretary of the Faculty and Academic Staff, UW System Administration and other UW campuses. The Director provides strategic, proactive and innovative leadership in the human resources function and is responsible for providing accurate and consistent information.

Director of Continuing Professional Education and Wisconsin Caregiver Academy

This position reports to the Executive Director of Continuing Professional Education and Extension and will be primarily responsible for creating innovative continuing education and progressive training programs for professionals throughout the State of Wisconsin and beyond and providing entrepreneurial leadership for all facets involved in building sustainable programming and collaborative partnerships.

Student Record Specialist

The Student Record Specialist reports to the Assistant Registrar and will work with students to resolve technical issues associated with their academic records.  This position will consult with students, faculty, and other Registrar’s Office staff to ensure academic record transactions are completed and information is clearly and accurately communicated to students.  The Student Record Specialist will also develop the schedule of classes and associated room scheduling each academic semester in cooperation with the academic deans.  Position responsibilities will also include supporting Registrar’s Office staff with the testing and implementation of the PeopleSoft student information system (SIS) bundled updates and other software used in the office.

Lecturer – Chemistry (1-Year Appointment)

Registrar

The Registrar reports to the Dean of Enrollment Services and is responsible for the overall leadership of all functions within the Office of the Registrar. Duties include supervision of professional and student staff, oversight of Office of the Registrar operations, technology oversight, monitoring of office budget expenditures, enforcement of academic policies, and the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to records and registration. The Registrar assumes a leadership role in the implementation, maintenance and upgrades of the (PeopleSoft) Student Information System and other software utilized to complete student life cycle activities.

Scheduled HRS Outage This Weekend- No Timesheet or TAM Access

Due to a UW System data migration, there is a scheduled outage of HRS this weekend from Friday, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. to Sunday, June 5th at 4:00 p.m.  During this time, employees will not be able to use webclock or timesheet to record their hours worked, and supervisors will not be able to access employee’s timesheets.  Student supervisors are asked to notify any student employees working during this timeframe that they will not be able to access the My UW System portal during this outage and will need to manually keep track of their hours worked.

This HRS outage will also affect all currently posted recruitments, as applicants will not be able to get into TAM (Talent Acquisition Manager) to apply for positions.  We will have a notice posted on our career opportunities page and on individual postings throughout the weekend.  Campus employees who are involved in recruitments will also not be able to access TAM during this time.

Outreach Specialist – Phuture Phoenix (75%)

The Outreach Specialist – Phuture Phoenix reports to the Director of the Phuture Phoenix program and assists in the operational and management aspects of Phuture Phoenix.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate on-campus Phuture Phoenix Campus Visit Days for local school districts.
  • Organize and coordinate faculty and staff participating on tour day.
  • Organize, recruit, and assist in training student volunteers for tour day.
  • Organize and train community volunteers for tour day.
  • Organize facility usage for tour day.
  • Compile and use data to coordinate tour day.
  • Serve as program liaison with K-12 Schools.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of 9-12 Afterschool College Access Club.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with building contacts in schools.
  • Support Phuture Phoenix Primary building contacts with assemblies and curriculum.
  • Assist in the  preparing of grants and track progress of grants.
  • Provide data for grant application and reporting.
  • Create and maintain data files for the Phuture Phoenix program.
  • Provide support in the scholarship process including distribution, application, selection and file maintenance of scholarship recipients.
  • Assist in the organization, scheduling of fund raising events.
  • Develop and deliver presentations about Phuture Phoenix program in schools and in an educational conference setting.
  • Develop and maintain University relationships.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships.
  • Support the work of the Phoenix Phellows both on campus and in the K-12 schools.
  • Supervise temporary and non-temporary university staff as assigned .
  • Oversee and support Interns as assigned.
