She earned her bachelor of science degree in Zoology and Environmental Studies from UW-Madison, and her master of science degree in Environmental Science and Policy from UW-Green Bay. The department of Information and Computing Science welcomes Shauna Froelich as a Lecturer for the 2015-2016 academic year! Shauna holds degrees in History and Law from Xavier University and Marquette University Law School, respectively. She married her law school sweet heart and served in the United States Air Force thereafter. Shauna was stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in the 67th Information Operations Intelligence Wing, San Antonio, Texas. She provided support for intelligence operations during the war in Iraq. Following her commission in the Air Force, Shauna and her husband moved back to their home state of Wisconsin.
Shauna has been an Instructor at various colleges in Wisconsin, including University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Lakeland College, North West Technical College, Rasmussen College and Cardinal Stritch University. She specializes in teaching legal, ethical, communication and leadership courses.
Shauna’s family life is full of energy. With four children, a dog, and a husband who is an attorney, there is rarely a dull moment. In her free time, she loves date nights, water skiing, painting, outdoor adventures and the beach. Welcome, Shauna!
The department of Natural and Applied Sciences welcomes Dr. Mohammad Upal Mahfuz as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering Technology. Dr. Mahfuz previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa, Canada, for eight months. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa in Canada in December 2014. Prior to that, he completed his M.Sc. degree in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada, in September 2008, M.Engg. degree in Telecommunications from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, in May 2005, and B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in April 2002. His research interests include nanoscale communication systems and nanonetworks, ultra-wideband wireless communication systems, and renewable energy and information and communication technology (ICT) for sustainable development.
Dr. Mahfuz has received several awards and scholarships including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) doctoral scholarship (PGS-D, 2010-2013), the University of Ottawa Excellence Award (2010–2013), the University of Ottawa Admissions Scholarship (2009–2012), the University of Calgary Graduate Research Scholarship (2007), the 2nd Best Poster Prize at WiSense Workshop (2010), and the Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC) Prize (2005).
Dr. Mahfuz is an author/co-author of several journal papers, book chapters, and conference papers published internationally. He has an experience of university teaching with students from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Dr. Mahfuz is also involved in scholarly activities as technical program committee member of several conferences and technical reviewer of several journals.

The department of Natural and Applied Sciences welcomes Tetyana Malysheva as an Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics! Tetyana earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma (OU). She also holds a Ph.D. in Physical and Mathematical Sciences with specialization in Computational Mathematics from the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a M.S. in Computer Sciences from the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”. She previously taught at the University of Oklahoma and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. Tetyana is an active member of the American Mathematical Society and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and presented her research in interdisciplinary applied and computational mathematics at international, national, and regional conferences. She is also the OU Graduate Teaching Academy Fellow and earned a number of academic and teaching recognitions and awards, including the OU Provost’s Certificate of Distinction for Outstanding Graduate Assistant Teaching. She moved to Wisconsin from Norman, OK with her husband. Welcome, Tetyana!
The department of Natural and Applied Sciences welcomes Brian Welsch as an Assistant Professor in Physics! Brian came here from the University of California at Berkeley, where he worked at the Space Sciences Laboratory for 13 years, studying solar flares. He received his B.S. in physics from the College of William & Mary in Virginia, and his master’s and Ph.D. in physics from Montana State University in Bozeman. When he’s not biking or going for a run, he’s usually chasing his 1- and 3-year old kids around the playground. He grew up in Butte, MT. Welcome, Brian!
The department of Human Biology welcomes Laura Rowell as a Lecturer for the 2015-2016 academic year. Laura previously worked for Green Bay Area Public Schools as a Food Service manager for almost a decade and an Associate Lecturer for the last two years in the Human Biology Department. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Mount Mary College and her Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Laura also teaches at Xperience Fitness and for World Instructor Training Schools in the areas of fitness and nutrition. She resides in Green Bay, Wisconsin with her husband and three young children. The UWGB Phoenix Athletics Program welcomes Reed Robelot as the Head Swimming and Diving Coach! Robelot joins the Phoenix following a five-year successful stint as an assistant coach with ACC member Virginia Tech, where he helped the Hokies to three-consecutive top-25 finishes for both the men’s and the women’s teams. From 2011-2015, Robelot helped in elevating Virginia Tech swimming and diving into both a conference and national contender. Reed holds a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and a Masters degree in Sport Pedagogy from Louisiana State University. He is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is involved with swim camps and swim lessons. Welcome, Reed!
The Center for BioDiversity welcomes Jay Horn as a Lecturer and Herbarium Curator! Jay comes to UWGB after holding six years of postdoctoral and visiting scientist fellowships at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. He is a botanist who studies evolutionary biology and flowering plant diversity. After earning a bachelor degree in Plant Science from Cornell University, he went on to earn a masters degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. from Duke University. Jay grew up in the greater Chicago area, and developed an early interest in plant diversity during family vacations to northern Wisconsin. Welcome, Jay!
The Operations Department at UW-Green Bay has a current vacancy for a second shift Custodian Lead position. The Custodian Lead position in the Cofrin Library must be able to lead by example. This position works under the general supervision of the Custodial Services Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of the Cofrin Library.
