Custodian (First Shift) – Open to UW System Employees Only

The University of Wisconsin – Green Bay has a current vacancy for a full time, first shift Custodian in Outbuildings/Float. This position works under the general supervision of the Custodial Services Program Supervisor, and is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of their designated areas. This position is a full-time, first shift university staff appointment. Work hours for this position will be 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Clean offices, restrooms, and other building areas.
  • Maintain all floor surfaces including mopping, buffing, vacuuming, shampooing, and refinishing.
  • Clean windows (inside and outside).
  • Clean furniture.
  • Assist with furniture, piano, and equipment moves as required.
  • Stock restrooms and custodial work areas with necessary supplies and products.
  • Remove waste and recycling.
  • Perform snow removal and salting of building entrances.
  • This position will be required to drive a State vehicle and travel between work locations as needed.

Academic Staff Contract Renewal Process

All Academic Staff employees are hired into a contract.  Annually, employees receive appointment letters with current information on their position and placement in the Academic Staff contract scheme. Contract notifications for the 2016-2017 Fiscal Year will be distributed no later than August 1, 2016. For further information on the Academic Staff contract scheme, please see Chapter 2 of the Academic Staff Handbook.

Welcome Mitchell Sabez!

Mitchell SabezThe Office of Human Resources welcomed Mitchell Sabez on May 2, 2016, as a Human Resources Assistant!  Mitchell’s responsibilities will include coordinating and entering personnel transaction data in the Human Resources System (HRS), processing student employment paperwork, and handling various recruitment activities for the divisions of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Information Services, the Library, and Provost Office. He will also coordinate exit processing, perform fiscal year end duties, and assist with IT-related functions for the HR Office.

In 2014, Mitchell earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from UW-Green Bay.  Prior to his appointment at UW-Green Bay, Mitchell worked in Human Resources at Cabelas for 1 year.   He is originally from Greenfield, WI, and currently lives in West Bend, WI.  He has an older brother who resides in Omaha, NE, and his parents still reside in Greenfield.  Mitchell enjoys playing tennis, running, reading, music, and movies.  He is excited to return to the Green Bay area and especially UWGB!   Welcome, Mitchell!

Graphic Designer (6-month, temporary appointment)

The temporary (six-month) Graphic Designer position reports to the Director of Marketing and University Communications and is responsible for the development of creative communication materials supporting the University’s recruitment, retention and foundation initiatives. This position will work with a team to concept and design materials for use across multiple communications channels that represent the University’s activities and programs to its internal and external audiences.

The Graphic Design Specialist will conceptualize, develop and design marketing communications materials for print and electronic distribution.  As a member of the University’s design team, this position works as a member of a creative team in a deadline-driven environment to concept and develop publications, graphic elements and projects involving institutional image – especially those relating to student recruitment (admissions), retention, fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and news/communication. Assists with development of print pieces, displays, print advertising, brochures, invitations, online/banner ads, e-mail templates and more.

Assistant Athletic Director for Business Affairs – Open to UW System Employees Only

The Assistant Athletic Director for Business Affairs reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, and provides oversight and management of athletics department finances and internal department operations.  This position also has dotted line reporting to the campus Budget Director.

Employee Appreciation Week is being celebrated May 2-6 on campus! This is a week to honor employees. The Employee Appreciation Week Work Group is putting the final touches together on a week of fun, and we encourage all employees to take part in activities during this week and the few days leading up to it. More activites will be added to the schedule as they are confirmed!

WRS Annual Statement of Benefits Now Available in the Portal

If you were covered by the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) in 2015, your WRS Annual Statement of Benefits is now available in My UW System. Go to the Benefit Information module and click on the Statements tab. Click on “2015 ETF Annual Statement of Benefits (WRS) Issued 2016” to view or print your statement.

The WRS Annual Statement of Benefits provides you with information about your WRS account as of January 1, 2016. The Explanation of Annual Statement of Benefits provides you with information to help you understand your statement. The Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) has also published an Introductory Letter for the statement.

It is recommended that you review each section of your statement using the explanation as a guide:

  • 2015 Earnings and Service
  • Years of Creditable Service as of January 1, 2016
  • 2015 Employee Required Contributions (Note: In section 3, the small amounts shown in Employer Paid Employee contributions occur due to rounding in calculations used to produce this statement or from the payroll system.  This does not apply to all employees.)
  • Additional Contribution
  • Primary Beneficiary Designation(s) for WRS Required Account
  • Separation Benefit
  • Death Benefit
  • Formula Benefit Data
  • Money Purchase Balance (Total required employee and matching employer contributions, including interest.)
  • Retirement Benefit Projections

NOTE: New WRS participants who enrolled in late December 2015, and whose first wages were paid in January 2016, will not receive a statement because no WRS contributions were paid in 2015.

Financial Specialist Senior (Bookstore) – Open to UW System Employees Only

This position, under the general supervision of the Bookstore Director, will execute accounting/bookkeeping duties for the UW – Green Bay Phoenix Bookstore.  Primary responsibilities of this position include documenting and depositing monies, processing invoices, posting and reporting financial activity, and compiling and distributing periodic financial statements and reports.  Responsibilities will also include keeping all financial records organized in compliance with State of Wisconsin policies and procedures and assisting in development of annual operating budgets.
