Important Semester/Year End Information for Student Supervisors

ATTENTION ALL SUPERVISORS OF STUDENT EMPLOYEES

GRADUATING OR STUDENTS NOT RETURNING IN SPRING

The last day of work for graduating seniors and those not returning for the spring semester is DECEMBER 21, 2015. This applies to all student employees, work study or regular. If your student employee is graduating or will no longer be a student, you may have the option of hiring them as an LTE. All LTE requests have to be approved by leadership before hire. Please contact Human Resources with any questions about this process.

If your student employee is graduating, their appointment will be ended by HR. If your student employee is not return for any other reason or their position is changing please complete a Student Employment Form and select the appropriate action from the top drop down and complete the necessary information.

January 25-First day of classes for Spring semester
May 13-Last day of work for students graduating in May or not returning for Fall 2016

 

FEDERAL WORK STUDY (FWS) BALANCE REPORTS

These reports are sent bi-weekly via email to students with a FWS award. This email contains FWS amounts & balances. Ask your FWS student employee(s) to provide you with these emails as a way to monitor award balances. An accurate FWS balance will assist supervisors when scheduling hours for spring and help avoid exceeding a student’s FWS award.

 

ADVERTISING OPEN STUDENT POSITIONS

Open positions should be posted in the Phoenix Recruitment Online (PRO) site. Jobs can be submitted by completing an online form or instructions to post directly in PRO can be found on the Student Employment website: http://www.uwgb.edu/student-employment/employers/opening.asp

 

EARNINGS STATEMENTS

Earnings statements are available to all current student employees through access to the My UW System Portal at http://my.wisconsin.edu and can be accessed at any time, from any computer that has an internet connection.  To login, the student will need to select UW-Green Bay, and then enter their UW-Green Bay user ID and password.  Access to the portal is tied to employment, thus if employment ends so will access to the portal.

The 2015 W2 will be sent to the student’s home address and a copy will be available in the portal at the end of January. Please have the student review their personal information on the portal. If the address listed is incorrect, please notify PayrollandBenefits@uwgb.edu before the end of the year.

Coordinator of Public Services

The Coordinator of Public Services reports to the Library Director, and plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates library services for Circulation, Reserves, and Resource Sharing activities through the effective supervision and management of staff, budget, policies, and procedures.  This position is responsible for ensuring quality customer service, training, maintaining hours of access, providing access to collections, keeping accurate records of library fines/fees, ensuring building security, as well as participating in research services.  This position requires advanced and continually updated knowledge of library principles, library trends, and new library technology.

Trainer – Behavioral Health Training Partnership

The Trainer supports the development and delivery of training to behavioral health and crisis professionals in the 19 counties in the Behavioral Health Training Partnership region.  The Behavioral Health Training Partnership is a partnership between 19 counties in the state’s Northeastern and Northern regions of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services / Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DHS).

Primary position responsibilities include training delivery, coordination of training sessions, training and curriculum development, the coordination and management of training and curriculum development projects, transfer of learning, and supporting implementation of best practices related to crisis prevention and intervention.

Facilities Maintenance Specialist

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, and will be responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of general plumbing fixtures and components.  This position will also perform general inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of campus building structures and equipment. In addition, this position performs preventative maintenance, inspections, other seasonal activities, and is responsible for inspecting laboratory systems and equipment and making necessary installations and repairs. This position will also maintain an appropriate parts inventory, order parts when necessary and provide professional advice on the materials and time required to complete various tasks.  This position may also direct the work of student and/or LTE employees as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

2016 Flexible Spending and Health Savings Account Enrollment Deadline Extended to November 6, 2015

TASC, the plan administrator, has provided the University of Wisconsin notice that the deadline to enroll in the 2016 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) (Includes: Medical and Dependent Care) and Health Savings Account (HSA) for eligible participants has been extended through midnight on 11/6/15.

Who is an eligible participant for the HSA/FSA programs?

FSA: All benefit-eligible employees may participate in the FSA programs except Fellows, Scholars, University Staff Temporary,Graduate Interns/Trainees or Post-Doctoral Fellows/Trainees.    

HSA: To be eligible for an HSA, you must be a Wisconsin Retirement System participant who enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan for 2016 through the 2016 Annual Benefit Enrollment Period (Enrollment Period Ended on 10/30/2015)

How do I enroll?

To enroll in these plans, please go directly through the plan administrator TASC Enrollment Website and follow the instructions provided in the TASC Online Enrollment Guide.  Online enrollments through TASC must be completed by midnight on November 6, 2015.

  • If you are unable to enroll online and would like to participate, please contact the benefits office for a paper enrollment form. The paper application must be received by 4:30 pm on November 6th.
  • You may also enroll over the phone with TASC by 5:00 pm on November 6th: 1-844-786-3947.

Enrollment Services Front Desk Advisor (Two Vacancies)

The Student Services Specialists work in the Green Bay One Stop Shop (GBOSS) to assist clients (i.e. enrolled and prospective students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public) with routine transactions and inquiries, educate clients about University policies, procedures and resources, advise clients about alternative courses of action, and work collaboratively with other University offices and external agencies on behalf of clients to expedite problem resolution.

Technician- Academic Technology Services (Temporary 50%)

Academic Technology Services has a current vacancy for a temporary Technician.  This position will work approximately 20 hours per week, between the hours of 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The technician position will be responsible for the support of campus data network and telecommunications network installations, troubleshooting, and repair. They will also perform general electronic troubleshooting and repair of telephones, electronic instructional equipment, classroom equipment, and audio/video systems.

Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer is responsible for assisting faculty and instructional academic staff with course design and redesign with an emphasis on the use of instructional technology in online classes and online academic program development. This position will provide support for all aspects of course design from analysis of anticipated student learning outcomes and instructor needs to the development of a delivery system to maximize instructional effectiveness. The Instructional Designer works collaboratively with the office of the Provost and Adult Degree Program and is housed in Academic Technology Services.

Technology Squaretable open forum

Professor Alison Staudinger will be sharing what she learned at DHSI regarding audio recording as scholarship and pedagogy, and discuss its influence on her First Year Seminar course. Faculty or staff interested in using recordings in the classroom can get some practical tips and view sample assignments. Alison will be sharing frustrations and successes, as well as her ideas for how individuals and departments can use audio to make their work more public.

Technology-Squaretable-(19-11)

The Tech Squaretable is an “open forum” where faculty, staff, and students explore fresh new teaching tools, technologies, and techniques centered around a monthly topic. Refreshments and snacks are provided.
