Title & Total Compensation Project: Employee Benefits Preferences Survey

UW System and UW-Madison, in partnership with Mercer Consulting, will conduct an Employee Benefits Preferences Survey. The Survey is a key component of the Title and Total Compensation (TTC) Project.

What is the Employee Benefits Preferences Survey?

The Employee Benefits Preferences Survey is an additional aspect of the Title and Total Compensation Study designed to assess faculty and staff opinions regarding the benefit program offerings available to UW System employees. The results of this survey will be used to evaluate employee benefit preferences and whether or not programs are meeting their diverse needs.

Who will be surveyed?

All full-time benefits-eligible employees in the UW System will have the opportunity to participate in this confidential survey.

When will this happen?

The survey period is Monday, November 26, 2018 – Friday, December 14, 2018. Findings will be shared mid-year 2019.

Why is this being done?

The Survey provides faculty and staff the opportunity to communicate their benefits preferences, assess satisfaction with current benefits available and share their desire for potential trade-off of benefits elements. The findings will help inform our efforts to explore and consider supplemental benefit offerings for employees across the UW System. NoteThis is not an attempt to target benefits for elimination or reduce current benefit levels.

Next steps

Employees will receive an email with a personalized link to the Survey and instructions for completing it. The email subject line will be “UW Employee Benefits Preferences Survey” and will come from the email address: universityofwisconsin@mercer.com. This email is not a phishing scam.  Please also check your junk email box the week of November 26, if you have not received the survey.

Additional information about the TTC project can be found at the UW System website. Please send your questions about the Survey or the TTC Project to TTC@uwsa.edu.

Data Security & Privacy Required Online Training – All Employees, including Student Employees

University employees have access to medium and high-risk data for themselves as well as others. Maintaining the security of that data from the continuous attack by hackers is a constant threat facing our employees.

Based on University of Wisconsin System UWS Administrative Policy 1032: Information Security: Awareness, which requires all employees to complete yearly information security awareness training, all employees, including student employees, are required to complete the Checkpoint: Data Security & Privacy online training by November 11, 2018.

This training will provide employees with best practices on their role in protecting the University’s systems and data and information on how to recognize the methods employed by hackers. The training will also provide information related to the UW System information technology acceptable use policies. Training will take approximately ninety minutes and is self-paced, allowing you to come and go as you please until course completion.

Login information will be included in an email the week of October 8 from “University of Wisconsin-Green Bay” titled “University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Required Online Training.”  Once the training is complete, there is no need to notify HR or provide anyone with the optional printable certificate.  Completion information is tracked within the system.

Please note, those who have taken the training on or after August 20, 2018, will not be required to retake the training this year and will not receive an email requesting completion.

Please contact Human Resources at hr@uwgb.edu or (920) 465-2390 with any questions and/or to request a reasonable accommodation.

Annual Reminder – Review and Update Personal Information

Employees are able to update their personal information independently by going through the UW System Portal.  Annually, we request that employees review their personal information to ensure accuracy (address, phone number, emergency contacts, marital status, ethnicity, etc.).

In addition, federal regulations passed in March 2014 require employers to periodically invite employees to self-identify their veteran and disability status. Please view the FAQ document for additional information related to this request. Self-identification information is confidential and will be kept confidentially as part of your employee record in HR. Identifying as a person with a disability in the portal does not initiate an accommodation request. If you would like to request an accommodation for a disability, please see the Procedures for Determining Reasonable Accommodations in Employment.

Instructions for updating personal information in your portal:

Step 1: Log into the My UW System Portal

Step 2: Click on the box titled “Personal Information”

portal

Step 3: Review address detail, disability status, veteran status, and ethnic groups by individually clicking view/update in your portal. Each link will take you into HRS to view and update your information.

Step 4: Click your name in the upper right hand corner and click “logout”.  You have completed the review/update!

ThreeOfficers Military IMG_7511 IMG_7510 IMG_7509 IMG_7507 IMG_7501Thanks to all who helped and participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Tuesday, September 11th.  About 35 students, employees, community members, area protective services representatives, and members of the military walked the stairs from the 2nd to 8th floor of the Cofrin Library.

Thank you to Tony Decker and Dave Jones of Public Safety, as well as representatives of UWGB ROTC and Vets 4 Vets for sharing military and protective services items for display, being on hand during the event, and putting up the posters on each level which served as a poignant reminder.  Thank you also to Elaina Koltz and Lisa Schmelzer for handing out flag pins and providing encouragement to walkers, and to the Wellness Committee for providing refreshments.
