Katie earned her Masters and Doctorate in communication from UW-Milwaukee. For the past four years she has been part of the communication faculty at the University of Wisconsin – Waukesha. Katie’s research interests include health communication and various interpersonal communication topics.

Athletic Compliance and Degree Audit Specialist

The Athletic Compliance and Degree Audit Specialist reports to the Registrar and is responsible for completing degree audits and evaluations for all student athletes to ensure NCAA compliance regulations are met for eligibility, progress to degree and by-laws, rules, and regulations. Successful candidate will liaison with Athletic personnel to coordinate the certification/eligibility processing, oversee the collaborative review and notification process used by Enrollment Services personnel, and review all candidates for graduation. This position will also consult and receive all substitution transactions for degree completion and assist Registrar staff members.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

* Generate team rosters from the Compliance Assistant data tool.
* Review enrollment, perform degree audit for program progress, and complete in adherence with NCAA Division I progress to degree standards for all athletes on campus.
* Assess progress to degree completion, review GPA data, and evaluate courses for compliance standards in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations.
* Academically certify all incoming students for eligibility.
* Report inaccuracies, changes, and any concerns regarding student athletes.
* Enter relevant progress to degree and GPA data using Compliance Assistant data tool.
* Maintain and prepare individual athlete spreadsheets and team sheets three times a year.
* Create and maintain an Athletic Certification Calendar, adhering to reporting deadlines.
* Prepare and submit Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data, including tracking and projecting future rates.
* Collaborate with athletic personnel for review of student athletes, and serve as liaison between the Registrar’s Office and Athletic Department on all issues pertaining to student athlete eligibility.
* Attend all meetings regarding NCAA rules and regulations.
* Review NCAA regulations and by-laws and academic degree program or institutional policy changes for impact to student-athlete eligibility.
* Oversee communication processes regarding initial degree audits for all students who have applied to graduate.
* Notify students regarding their degree completion status, provide advice to students with degree requirement deficiencies, and suggest solutions for completion.
* Advocate for students who are having difficulty explaining or soliciting resolutions.
* Consults with department chairs, administrators, and faculty members on behalf of students to clarify substitutions and/or academic plan requirements.
* Notify students of what is needed to obtain/complete their degree requirements.
* Complete the final degree audit, notify students who apply to graduate that they are eligible to receive their degree, and recommend conferral of degrees for all eligible students who have applied to graduate.
* Respond to questions regarding the satisfaction of degree requirements, changing/extending degree conferral deadlines, and making recommendations concerning exceptions.
* Review all majors/minors/certificates to ensure accuracy in the catalog software used to publish undergraduate/graduate catalogs.
* Assist with review and construction of all academic programs in the Student Information System.
* Assist with quad-annual production of diplomas to all degree awardees in a semester.
* Assist with data submission of Commencement Program graduation candidates and honors recipients.

Welcome Keith Bani!

IMG_0054Facilities Management welcomed Keith Bani on June 14, 2016, as a Custodian!  Prior to his appointment at UW-Green Bay, Keith worked at Festival Foods.

Keith volunteers for the Tourette Syndrome Awareness 5K Run/Walk Event each year.

Keith is from De Pere, WIsconsin, and attended West De Pere High School.  He has 9 siblings and also has an identical twin!

Transfer Services Coordinator

The Transfer Services Coordinator reports to the Registrar and provides oversight of the transfer evaluation process.  Primary responsibility is to coordinate the transfer process, evaluate domestic and abroad course transferability in accordance with federal and state policies, solicit course equivalency rulings, and ensure articulation agreements, memorandums of understanding, and transfer guides are in alignment with identified policies and practices.  The successful candidate will also supervise student employees involved in the evaluation process, oversee communication plans and related issues for transfer students, provide assessment of transfer credits, and advise students on credit evaluations and transfer issues.

Enrollment Services Front Desk Advisor

This position reports to the Front Desk Manager of the Green Bay One Stop Shop (GBOSS) in the Student Services Department and will work with clients by handling inquiries, educating clients about university policies, procedures, and resources, advising clients about alternative courses of action, and working collaboratively with other university offices and external agencies on behalf of clients to expedite problem resolution.  Advisors make recommendations to the Enrollment Services Manager, the Enrollment Services Directors, and Dean on procedural and/or business practice improvements and help track customer service metrics to continuously improve student services and satisfaction.

Welcome Maruf Hossain!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Natural and Applied Sciences Department welcomed Maruf Hossain on July 1, 2016, as the Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering Technology!  Prior to his appointment at UW-Green Bay, Maruf worked as a Research Assistant and Herff Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis.  He also worked as an Assistant Professor at Ahsanullah University, as a Lecturer at American International University, and an Engineer at Telecom Malaysia International, all of which are located in Bangladesh.

Maruf served as Treasurer of IEEE HKN, University of Memphis Chapter 2015-2016, Treasurer of Bangladesh Students Association, and the University of Memphis Chapter 2013-2014.

Maruf holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Memphis, TN.  He earned his Master’s of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Maruf is originally from Khulna, Bangladesh, and has a wife and son.  Welcome, Maruf!
