The Development Office for Annual Giving reports to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and President of the UW-Green Bay Foundation. The Development Officer for Annual Giving plans and implements a comprehensive annual giving program in support of UWGB.  The annual giving program solicits charitable contributions through personal visits, Phone-A-Thon calls, direct-mail and e-mail appeals, and promotion of online giving and crowdfunding initiatives.

After 5 at LYRIC ROOM @ Keggers

Keggers is home to a few unique spaces including an outdoor beer garden and the Lyric Room, a fledgling company run by some guys who love music. It’s part of an original music series called Lyric Room Live designed to highlight the burgeoning live music scene in Greater Green Bay.

Leaderfest is a regional young professional event started in 2007 through the collaborative efforts of 6 young professional groups located in Northeast Wisconsin. Each year, one group plays host to an event filled with professional development and personal enrichment opportunities while providing ample time to network with young professional peers from throughout the region.

Since his arrival last summer, UW-Green Bay’s chancellor has spent countless hours meeting with local employers, civic leaders, elected officials, alumni and current students to gather ideas on Green Bay’s future. He views campus and community as full partners in shaping that future. While UW-Green Bay will continue to honor the great traditions of liberal-arts learning, it will survive and thrive only if it embraces the disruptive innovations that challenge those traditions at every turn. In a rapidly evolving, Innovation Age economy, Miller sees three keys in powering the future:  innovation, the transformative power of education, and regionally focused partnerships. About the Speaker Gary L. Miller Chancellor University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Dr. Gary L. Miller began his role as the sixth chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Aug. 1, 2014 and his installation was held Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Prior to joining UW-Green Bay, Miller was the fourth chancellor and seventh leader of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. After his arrival at UNCW in July 2011, Dr. Miller spearheaded the university’s focus on three core values: a commitment to the journey of learning, a deep love of place and dedication to the power of ideas and innovation to change lives. His initiatives have included forming the Chancellor’s Office for Community Partnerships, supporting a number of programs focused on applied learning and the undergraduate academic experience, developing the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, establishing the University Innovation Council, and guiding the growth of the CREST Research Park, among many other endeavors. During his tenure, the university has launched an innovative online nursing program, opened a $30 million-marine biotechnology business development and research building, and received reaccreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Dr. Miller serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU), a national higher education organization consisting of public and private colleges across the country that value the importance of teaching, research and service to their communities. He is a member of the National Campus Compact Board and the Executive Board of the North Carolina Campus Compact. He is chair of the Colonial Athletic Association Council of Presidents. Dr. Miller also serves on the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Committee for Economic and Workforce Development. He is a member of a collaborative steering committee focused on a post-collegiate outcomes initiative funded by the Gates Foundation. The initiative’s partners include the AASCU, the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU), and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACU). He previously participated as a member of the task force that developed the student learning outcomes component of the Voluntary System of Accountability, a joint project of the APLU and the AASCU.

In this session, Peter McMahon, CEO of Shopko Stores Operating Company, LLC will describe how he approached the organization’s need for change to create this rapid growth story.

 

About the Speaker

Peter McMahon CEO Shopko Peter McMahon is the chief executive officer of Shopko Stores Operating Company, LLC.   Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Green Bay, Shopko Stores is a $3 billion retailer that operates 327 stores in 24 states throughout the Midwest, Mountain, North Central and Pacific Northwest regions. With four decades of distinguished experience in the retail sector, Peter has a proven track record of delivering on objectives, exceeding expectations and leading organizations with a complex array of programs with the ability to leverage strengths in their business units. He started as a junior assistant and rapidly advanced to manager and beyond due to his hard work and ability to motivate others. He has held a variety of executive and senior positions with global retailers including chief operating officer of Loblaw, Canada’s largest food retailer and a leading provider of drugstore, general merchandise and financial products and services, and a member of the executive management team of Wal-Mart Inc., Germany and Japan. From the United Kingdom, Peter was born in Liverpool, Merseyside and holds a degree in economics from the University of Liverpool. Peter is also a naturalized citizen of Canada, where he lived and worked prior to joining Shopko Stores. Peter and his wife Leila now reside in Green Bay and recently added a Welsh Springer Spaniel named Riley to their family.
