2024-2025 Emeriti

Susan Gallagher-Lepak, Dean Emerita – Professor of Nursing and inaugural dean of the College of Health, Education, and Social Welfare, Dean Gallagher-Lepak was an innovative leader who supported a culture of diversity and inclusivity, and developed partnerships to advance the University mission.    

Daniel Kallgren, Professor Emeritus – Professor Kallgren’s distinguished 30-year career in the UW-System includes winning the UW Colleges’ highest award for teaching. He was also a four-time winner of the student-elected Professor of the Year award at UW-Marinette. 

Jeff Benzow, Faculty Emeritus – Thirty-six years of dedication to the Art and Design program. A pioneer in incorporating digital methods to Graphic Design courses at UW-Green Bay.    

Linda Toonen, Associate Teaching Professor Emerita – Professor Toonen’s career of teaching, tutoring, and curricular development of  writing spanned parts of five decades (1989-2024). She is the first non-tenure track winner of the Founder’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.    

Lora Warner, Faculty Emerita – Over a 30-year career at UW-Green Bay, Dr. Warner rose from adjunct instructor to Associate Professor. Noted for her work on headship and philanthropy, both in the classroom and with the wider community.    

Woo Jeon, Professor Emeritus – Respected Lie-algebraist and selfless teacher whose UW-Green Bay journey ended too soon. “I want to make sure that students’ lives will be better in the future after taking my lectures.”  

Karl Schindl, Faculty Emeritus – A 33-year student-focused career of teaching, scholarship, and service at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Manitowoc, and UW-Green Bay.      

Uwe Pott, Faculty Emeritus – His expertise in genetics and molecular biology were tremendous assets to UW-Green Bay students; conviction, integrity, and fairness are a legacy to his colleagues.    

Denise Baeten, Department Assistant Emerita – A 26-year career of steadfast dedication, exceptional professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the UW-Green Bay community.  Her warm presence and kind spirit brought joy to the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.

Service Awards are calculated based on the dates of the Faculty and Staff Cookout which is held during Employee Appreciation Week. Dates used this year are May 7, 2024 to May 14, 2025. Service awards are recognized for 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years of service. Service is defined by all permanent appointments held within UW System. Temporary and student appointments are not counted towards years of service.

University Union Custodian

The University Union at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay welcomes your application for consideration for a 1st shift Custodian position. In this important role, you will make an impact on our students, faculty and staff by maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the University Union. This includes but is not limited to cleaning offices, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other building areas; maintaining all floor surfaces including mopping, buffing, vacuuming, shampooing, and refinishing; cleaning windows (inside and outside); cleaning furniture; assisting with furniture, piano and equipment moves as required; stocking restrooms and custodial work areas with necessary supplies and products; waste and recycling removal; snow removal and salting of building entrances. Another aspect of this position is monitoring building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours. This position will be required to drive a State vehicle and travel between work on-campus locations as needed.

Retail Operations Manager

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay welcomes your application for the Retail Operations Manager. Reporting to the Phoenix Store Manager, this position provides direct support for both the Phoenix Store operations and oversees all aspects of the Phoenix Club food service operations. Employees will not have access to online timesheets, earnings statements, and other related documents and services during a UW Human Resources System (HRS) outage from approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14 through 12:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16. The outage is due to HRS System maintenance.

The following self-service features that employees access through the MyUW portal will be unavailable during this outage:

    • Updates to personal information
    • Access to electronic earnings statements, tax statements (W-2, 1042-S, etc.), leave statements and other HR, Payroll and Benefits documents

Police Officer

This position reports to the Police Lieutenant and enforces laws and regulations, investigates complaints and incidents, maintains order, identifies criminal activity, and apprehends and arrests offenders to ensure safety and security on all institutional properties and serve as a visible presence to prevent and deter criminal activity. This is a sworn law enforcement position under the general direction of a ranking officer or supervisor.

Leadership Green Bay Sponsorship for 2025-2026

Each year, the University sponsors one employee to participate in the Leadership Green Bay program.  This program was established in 1983 by the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and offers select individuals the unique opportunity to develop leadership skills while enhancing the well-being of the Green Bay area. Program goals include enhancing the participant’s knowledge of the Green Bay community; obtaining a greater awareness of issues that face the Green Bay area; enhancing leadership skills; and making an impact on the Green Bay Community.

The cohort of professionals gather once a month October through May (following an overnight retreat in September) to learn about social issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the Green Bay area, get exposure to relevant leadership education and skills, and become community stewards. Each monthly gathering has a specific focus (from local government to education to the economy), and learners are immersed in a full-day interactive lesson that includes guest speakers, team-building exercises, and networking. The program culminates by participants organizing into teams, identifying social or public opportunities, and working on community projects that are designed to raise awareness of an issue, improve team skills, and effect change. All UW-Green Bay employees are eligible to express interest in being considered.  After the deadline, one employee will be selected, and will asked to complete the application materials representing UW-Green Bay.

In order to express interest in participation, please complete the Interest Form. This form should be filled out by the interested employee and will then be electronically routed to their supervisor, the Dean/Division Head, and Area Leader as applicable.  Completed forms must be received in the Human Resources office by Friday, March 21, 2025 for full consideration.
