Summary of what you do: I am a faculty member teaching primarily in Music, but also a little bit in Theatre. My area of specialty is vocal music.
How long have you been employed: I’m starting my 10th academic year at UWGB this Fall.
Brief history of employment with UWGB: I’ve been having a great (but busy) time helping students grow in their musicianship and vocal skill, and hopefully also their understanding of the world around them; working with awesome colleagues across campus on impactful initiatives; and doing a little bit of musical performing of my own from time to time.
Three words that describe you: I do not think of words to describe myself very often, so I asked a friend. She said—Organized, Generous, Social. I’ll take it!
Personal interests: Cycling, hiking, reading, cooking (and eating).
Best vacation you’ve been to? I just returned from an amazing trip to Colorado. It was my first time there. I loved it!
Describe what you were like at age 10. I was about to get braces for the second time, I was a dancer, and I was about to land my breakthrough role as Martha the Cavewoman in an elementary musical called “Wheels.” My public singing debut was a song called “Thank You, Henry Ford.” I still remember it.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be? I’d probably need to meet Mozart. He was an interesting person.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? I’d probably choose the lunch buffet at Taste of India!
If your house was burning down, what’s the one non-living thing you would save? I’d want to save the piano… but it’s a little too big to get through the door.
Least favorite Food? Olives. I will eat just about anything else. I have tried and tried with olives, and I just can’t.
What advice would you give to recent new hires? Of course, spend time getting to know the colleagues in your immediate area, but find ways to become involved in work that takes you to other parts of campus and introduces you to others colleagues. It can be so rewarding! You just might develop relationships with people you had no idea you needed so much.
What did you want to be when growing up? In a video that was recorded in 6th grade, I definitively declared that I planned to be “an actress.” I guess I got pretty close.
What tv show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love? “Titanic.” There, I said it. Perhaps you’ll cut me some slack. I was a teenager when it came out.
