Collaborating with academic and administrative leaders across the campus, the Chief Facilities Officer provides overall vision, strategic and operational leadership, policy guidance, and direct management of the Facilities Planning and Management division. The Chief Facilities Officer is a key leader in supporting the academic mission of the campus through securing and maintaining the viability and integrity of the physical campus. Reporting to the CBO and Senior Vice Chancellor for Institutional Strategy, the Chief Facilities Officer has overall responsibility for the division’s budget, human resource management, and all other aspects of its operation at the main physical plant in Green Bay and three additional branch locations in Marinette, Manitowoc and Sheboygan. Areas of oversight include capital planning, design, and construction; campus planning and landscape architecture; environmental sustainability, physical plant, building maintenance, mail services, custodial operations and space management. This position is also responsible for leading departmental strategies and facilitating physical resources that support the University’s mission and goals regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The Chief Facilities Officer will interact with senior academic and administrative leadership to support the university’s mission through strategic planning activities and policy development on long-term facility and capital planning direction and issues. In conjunction with the CBO, the Chief Facilities Officer will play a key role in the formulation of the biennial capital plan and budget. The Chief Facilities Officer will also interact with UW System and State of Wisconsin Department of Facilities Development professionals and must cultivate and sustain cooperative working relationships with all constituencies.
Facilities and Planning Management is the largest administrative unit on campus with a budget of $7 million, and a staff of approximately 75. Facilities Planning and Management supports a physical plant of more than 1.98 million gross square feet in 66 university buildings and an additional 906,000 gross square feet of non-university buildings encompassing 1 square mile on the main campus and three non-contiguous county locations in the state.
