Director of Public Safety

This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance and is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, management and administration of all policing, security, parking and emergency response functions at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, including its three locations in Marinette, Manitowoc and Sheboygan. Leadership will be consistent with the University’s mission, appropriate for an institution of higher education, and responsive to evolving expectations of the department. The director is responsible for implementing appropriate programs and procedures consistent with maintaining law, order and safety at all locations. The director has full statutory arrest authority as a peace officer in the State of Wisconsin. Decisions are guided by Wisconsin and Federal statutes, court decisions, and administrative codes, rules and regulations of state law enforcement agencies, UW-System and UW-Green Bay policies and procedures.

Work involves frequent communication and effective collaboration with university departments, student leadership, governmental agencies, local authorities and community leaders. This position requires extensive procedural knowledge and organizational skills to provide strategic, proactive and innovative leadership in the public safety function.
