What: Winter Break Fitness Challenge

Where: UW Green Bay Kress Events Center
Whether you frequent the Kress or have yet to visit since the announcement of the Faculty/Staff Free Membership Program, NOW is your time to do so while working towards rad prizes! All Faculty/Staff have free UNLIMITED access to the Kress Events Center over the Winter Break time period.To Participate:

  1. Visit the Kress during business hours and check-in at the front desk (campus ID & a second pair of shoes required).
  2. Ask the front desk attendant for an entry slip for the Faculty/Staff Winter Break Fitness Challenge.
  3. Complete the slip(s) and give back to the front desk attendant to enter for the drawing.

Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Individual Sessions

Scott Schewe, representative from WDC, will be available to meet individually with employees regarding their current WDC enrollment and for those interested in learning more about the program and planning for retirement by investing before tax dollars.     Please see the attachments for more information about WDC’s Program highlights and new options.

December Timesheet Deadlines

As the holiday season is upon us, our payroll deadlines have to be adjusted due to the timeframe in which we can get the payroll’s processed amidst all of the legal holidays. As a result of those adjustments, we are requesting the following changes to the timeframe for submitting your timesheets:

December A (12/1/13-12/14/13)
Please submit your timesheet and absences by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12th.

December B (12/15/13-12/28/13)
Please submit your timesheet and absences by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 26th.

The American Cancer Society leads the search for cancer’s causes and cures and helps save lives!Come to the Relay for Life kickoff meeting to learn more about the event and how you can form a team and be part of the Relay.

Welcome Katherine Jarosz

Katherine started on October 28, 2013, as an International Recruitment Specialist.  Prior to starting at UW-Green Bay she worked in Wuhan, China, at Central China Normal University for two years.  She graduated from Augustana College and earned a BA in Asian Studies.  Her hometown is Libertyville, Illinois.

Tips and Tricks for Healthy Eating this Holiday Season

  1. Eat a snack before dinner. Enjoy some fruits and vegetables before getting to your meal to avoid overeating.
  2. Exercise early and keep moving! Working out early ensures that you will get some time for yourself and work off some calories before loading up!
  3. Manage beverage consumption- holiday beverages are laden with calories- be conscious of the non-food calories you are consuming.

Dr. Akishi Oshita from of Cornerstone Chiropractic will be giving a nutrition and lifestyle presentation on the Okinawan Diet.  This people of Okinawa Japan have some of the longest life expectancy in the world.  In addition, Okinawans have very low rates of cancer in comparison to Americans.
