This position reports to the Director of CATL and is a core member of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching & Learning (CATL) team and play a critical role in the support of teaching excellence and student success. Designers play a vital role in UW-Green Bay’s primary mission—leveling the “playing field” for anyone willing to learn. They collaborate with faculty, staff, and university leaders, such as chairs of academic programs, as they develop courses, programs, and curricula that reflect evidence-based and equity-minded practices. They apply learning theory and instructional design models in the consultation, selection, and application of educational methodologies and technologies to promote active learning, refine critical thinking, and increase student success across multiple teaching and learning modalities. At UW-Green Bay, our instructional designers do not create courses for instructors. Rather, they have the exciting opportunity to support faculty and academic staff as they engage in that process. They are also involved in the broader mission of CATL to support the professional development of instructors, and that may include facilitating communities of practice, creating and delivering programs or stand-alone workshops, developing resource materials, teaching instructors about distance education, and more.
CATL serves UW-Green Bay’s four locations, but this position is physically located on the Green Bay campus. Telecommuting is permitted but is limited to two days per week.
