Police Lieutenant

University Police are hiring a Police Lieutenant, which is the secondary leadership role within the University Police Department. The Lieutenant reports directly to the Chief of Police and will exercise supervision over 9 full-time officers, 5 part time officers, and 1 administrative staff member. As the second in command, the Lieutenant may be required to act as the Chief of Police in their absence. This requires a candidate that is well versed in both Law Enforcement duties and operational knowledge of a modern University Police Department.

The Lieutenant’s responsibilities are primarily Administrative, but will also include Operational responsibilities including filling Patrol shifts and/or assisting in patrol operations. The Lieutenant will be directly responsible for the daily administration of University parking enforcement, and long-term strategic initiatives related to parking. Additional daily and incidental responsibilities shall be assigned by the Chief of Police.
