Welcome Nelson Pouliot!

Pouliot, NelsonAthletics recently welcomed Nelson Pouliot as the Director of the Phoenix Fund on February 13, 2017.

Nelson previously worked at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He obtained his undergraduate degree at Olivet Nazarene University and his graduate degree at Oakland University.

When not working, Nelson enjoys basketball, baseball, fishing, golfing, soccer, and tennis.  He also loves music and traveling.

Nelson is originally from Caro, Michigan, and has a sister named AnnaLisa.

Welcome Aimee Sisson!

Aimee Sisson was welcomed as the new women’s Assistant Softball Coach by Athletics on October 10, 2016.

Aimee was a Graduate Assistant Softball Coach at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Applied Media Arts – Photography and a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies.

Aimee is from Bolivar, New York.

Welcome Kerry Winkler!

photo-for-hrKerry Winkler was welcomed by Outreach and Extension on September 19, 2016, as a Continuing Professional Education and State Registry Project Specialist.

Kerry worked at Bellin Health for five years prior to starting at UWGB.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UWGB and is from Green Bay.

Kerry is married and has two daughters, age 2 and 8.  She enjoys being active, hiking, camping with family, and cheering on the Packers.

Welcome Tessa Pellmann!

Tessa worked as a temporary Marketing Editor in the Union for 2 years before being hired in October.  She is currently interning with the Literacy Center  in Green Bay by volunteering to read to middle schoolers.

Tessa has a Bachelor’s Degree in English from UW-Green Bay, along with a minor in Linguistics.  She is from Lodi, Wisconsin, and has a brother (Jacob) who graduated from UW-Madison.

Welcome Leah James!

leahThe Registrar’s office welcomed Leah James as the new Transfer Services Coordinator on October 24, 2016.

Leah loves working in the field of credit transfer evaluation and helping students reach their personal academic goals.  Being new to Wisconsin and Green Bay, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute her expertise to the community.

Prior to joining the team at UWGB, she served as an Assistant Registrar at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota for four years and as an International Academic Advisor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  Leah participated in a broad range of university activities, from serving on accreditation and student success related committees, to presenting on topics/tools in transfer.

Leah enjoys NCAA college basketball, writing, performing poetry and songs, going on long walks, and having conversations in French.  She has even written a few books of poetry and wishes to one day professionally record a CD of some of her favorite songs.

Leah earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Arts French.  She is originally from St. Louis, Missouri.

Welcome Amy McNeely!

img_0023University Advancement welcomed Amy McNeely as the new Development Officer of Annual Giving on September 20, 2016.

Prior to her employment with UWGB, she worked for Marian, Mount Mary, and Marquette Universities.  She also worked for UW-Eau Claire.

Amy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Women’s Studies from UW-Eau Claire and is currently pursuing certification in Integrative Yoga Therapy.

Amy is from Pulaski, Wisconsin, and married.

She said, “I am excited to work with students and colleagues to raise needed funds for UW-Green Bay.”

Welcome Christopher Roeske!

Christopher Roeske recently started as a Police Officer in Public Safety on September 23, 2016.

Prior to being hired at UWGB, Christopher was a Corrections Officer for the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department for 2 years. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UW-Platteville.

Christopher is from Bancroft, Wisconsin.

Welcome Laura Nolan!

Outreach and Extension welcomed Laura Nolan as the Continuing Professional Education and State Registry Project Specialist on September 19, 2016.

Laura served as the Director of Operations for 15 and a half years at Harmony Living Centers (assisted living).  She is actively involved with Junior Achievement, Brown County Dementia Friendly Communities, Purple Angels, and Awana.

Laura earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Western Washington University.  She is originally from Oak Harbor, Washington, but now calls Green Bay her home.  She has been married to her husband Dave for 21 years and has two boys:  Josh (14) – Freshman at Preble and Ryan (11) – 6th grade at Red Smith.

In Laura’s free time, she enjoys reading, quilting, jewelry making, and photography.

Welcome Scott Ashmann!

scottashmann-1The College of Health, Education, and Social Welfare welcomed Scott Ashmann as the Associate Dean on September 6, 2016.

Scott has worked for UWGB since 2003!  He currently serves on the advisory board for the nature-based, 4-year-old kindergarten program at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and on the Education Advisory Committee for the Einstein Project.  He was also the past chairperson of the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board 2009-2014.

Scott received his Bachelor’s Degree from UWGB in Chemistry and Education; a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership in Education from UW-Milwaukee and Geoscience from Mississippi State University, and his Ph.D. in Science Education from Michigan State University.

Welcome Theresa Zuege-Halvorsen!

Theresa recently began as the Director of Continuing Professional Education and Wisconsin Caregiver Academy for Outreach and Extension on September 26, 2016.

Theresa worked for UW-Extension, Family Living Programs, for 9 1/2 years.  She is also actively involved with the United Board and Boys & Girls Club.

Theresa received an undergraduate degree in Human Biology and Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Management & Organizational Behavior.

Her hometown is Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
