Annual Career Progression and Title Change Review Process

Chapter 4 of the Academic Staff Handbook states that academic staff in the “professional” category and lecturers be granted the opportunity to request that their position be reviewed for possible retitling.  The provisions of Chapter 4 can be found at http://www.uwgb.edu/sofas/rules/academicstaffhandbook.pdf.

Section 4.04(2) requires the staff member to initiate the process via discussion with the immediate supervisor.  To assist in the preparation of the review, you will find Frequently Asked Questions and Compensation Process Guidelines (procedural instructions) as well as the request form on the Human Resources website at  https://www.uwgb.edu/hr/campus/supervisors/index.html#title.  In accordance with 4.03(2) of the Academic Staff Handbook, a favorable decision will result in a salary increase of the greater of at least 3% or to the minimum of the new salary range.  The effective date of the adjustment will be July 1, 2013.

Friday, December 7, 2012 Position and Compensation Review Committee submits approved requests to Chancellor for review.
After Budget is approved or by May 18, 2013 Area Leader will notify affected employees, supervisors and division heads of approved requests.

In addition, the Office of Human Resources will be holding an informational session regarding Career Progressions and Title Changes.  Please mark your calendars to attend if you are interested.  The discussion will include such topics as the difference between a career progression/title change and eligibility criteria.  The session will be held on Thursday, September 13th from 11:00 a.m. –  noon in the Phoenix B Room in the University Union.  Please email hr@uwgb.edu to RSVP no later than Monday, September 10th if you would like to attend.

WISDM: The WISDM (Wisconsin Data Mart for PeopleSoft Financials) is a reporting tool used to view the fiscal activity for departments and project/grants on campus. The information contained in WISDM is extracted from the PeopleSoft Shared Financial System (SFS) on a nightly basis, and includes current year as well as prior year activity.  Activity for deposits, purchase orders, journal uploads (chargebacks), expense reports and payroll information can all be obtained from WISDM. SuAnn Detampel, Interim Controller, will present an online demonstration of WISDM, and answer your questions.

Information Security: Find out what the “bad guys” on the Internet want to steal from you and what you should do to prevent this from happening.  Topics to be covered include common attack methods, simple methods to thwart these attacks, and information sharing guidelines and policies.  The information shared will be useful in the workplace and at home.

A Supervisors Guide to FMLA/WFMLA: The Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act (WFMLA) provide employees with the right to take job-protected leave with continued medical benefits when time off from work is needed to care for themselves or a family member who is seriously ill, to care for a newborn or newly adopted child or to attend to the affairs of a family member who is called to active duty in the military. During this training session we will go over who is eligible for this benefit, employee rights and when to contact HR.

You can attend this in-person training in lieu of the online Harassment Prevention training to satisfy the training requirement.

Summer 2011 Training

All UW-Green Bay employees are invited to attend the following summer 2011 training workshops.

Becoming a Progress-Making Leader in Your Sphere of Influence

The trainer for this workshop is Phillip Clampitt, Ph.D.  He is a Hendrickson Professor of Business for the Information Sciences Program at UW-Green Bay.  His workshop will cover how to become a progress-making leader, as well as leadership for the 21st century.  Dr. Clampitt recently wrote the book “Transforming Leaders Into Progress-Makers – Leadership for the 21st Century” with Robert De Koch.

There will also be two LGBTQ workshops this summer – the first training featuring basic information regarding LGBTQ issues and a second training that will go more in-depth for those who already have the basic knowledge but seek more information and a deeper knowledge about how to be an Ally.  

LGBTQ Issues 101

In this session faculty, staff and administrators are invited to learn about the growing student and faculty population who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ).  This session will highlight basic information regarding stereotypes, common myths and share resources that are available to support LGBTQ students and coworkers.  This training will enhance the participants understanding of LGBTQ issues, concerns, contributions, and resources.

LGBTQ Issues on a College Campus: Beyond the Basics

This session will be much more in-depth and will assist participants in working with students on a day to day basis, finding ways to infuse curriculum with LGBTQ supportive materials and how to create a non-homophobic campus environment.  This session will also highlight the Sexual Identity: Cass Model and explore the stages of identity development for LGBTQ individuals.  Also, in this session participants are encouraged to bring their questions and suggestions.  It will be a facilitated discussion where we can learn from the experience in the room in a safe, supported and confidential manner.

The trainers for the above LGBTQ workshops are Deborah Rezac and Shiyanke Goonetilleke.  Deborah Rezac is the Diversity Director for the American Intercultural Center at UW-Green Bay.  Shiyanke Goonetilleke is a Graduate Student in Student Affairs at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, and a summer Intern with the American Intercultural Center at UW-Green Bay.
