Michael Rector started on August 25, 2014, as an Assistant Professor, Music. He holds a doctorate in music from Manhattan School of Music, a master’s from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s from Oberlin College. An accomplished pianist, he competes frequently in international competitions, and was a prize winner of the Jacob Flier Competition in New York. He and his wife, pianist Sylvia Hong, perform as Duo Affannato and have toured extensively in the United States, Korea and, earlier this year, Eastern Europe. His dissertation investigated Chopin’s harmonic practice and musical influences. Welcome Michael!
