Welcome Sawa Senzaki

Sawa started at UW-Green Bay on August 26, 2013, as an Assistant Professor, Human Development.  She completed her Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Alberta in Canada.  A native of Japan, she earned her bachelor’s from UW-Superior. Her research interests involve social, cultural, and developmental psychology, particularly examining mechanisms and consequences of cultural diversity in various cognitive processes, and exploring the sources of cultural diversity in lifespan development. Her latest project explores the process of cultural transmission from parents to their children.

Welcome Laleah Fernandez

Laleah started at UW-Green Bay on August 26, 2013, as an Assistant Professor, Information and Computing Science.  She is a doctoral candidate in Media and Information Studies at Michigan State University, where she earned a bachelor’s in Journalism and a master’s in Advertising.  At MSU she taught undergraduate classes in public relations writing and courses in advertising and society.  Her research interest includes network analysis and the role of new and emerging media in community-level and global mobilization efforts.  She has published research and reviews in the areas of economic development, mobilization and science communication.  Prior to commencing her doctoral studies, she worked in legislative news writing, public opinion polling and political public relations for various public and private agencies in Michigan.

Welcome Christin DePouw

Christin started at UW-Green Bay on August 26, 2013, as an Assistant Professor, Education.  She comes to UW-Green Bay from UW-Eau Claire where she had a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Education Studies.  She has extensive experience working with Hmong American communities in Wisconsin and has worked around issues of race, culture, and education.  She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-La Crosse and her Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies from the University of Illinois.  Her hometown is Green Bay.

Welcome Jon Shelton

John started at UW-Green Bay on August 26, 2013, as an Assistant Professor, Democracy and Justice Studies. John completed his Ph.D. in History at the University of Maryland in May 2013.  His dissertation, “Against the Public: Teacher Strikes and the Decline of Liberalism, 1968-1981” focuses on the recent history of American culture, politics, and labor unions.  His recent opinion pieces on contemporary politics have been featured in Dissent and truthout.org. He grew up in north Mississippi, taught high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Welcome Sara Chaloupka

Sara started on August 19, 2013, as a Lead Cashier.  She previously worked at Copps Food Center for 13 years, most recently as a Customer Service Representative and Bookkeeper.  Sara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Human Development from UW-Green Bay.  She is from Green Bay.

Welcome Amy Mauk

Amy Mauk started on August 5, 2013, as an Area Coordinator in Residence Life. Prior to starting at UW-Green Bay she was employed at UW-Stevens Point and at Colorado Mesa University. She is involved in diabetes awareness and has volunteered with the American Diabetes Association at various camps over twelve years. She earned her Master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Indiana State University and Bachelor’s degree in Communication Processes at none other than UW-Green Bay. Amy is from Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Welcome Sara Hladilek

Sara started on July 22, 2013, as a Student Services Coordinator.  Sara previously worked for UW-Marshfield/Wood County for 4.6 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Human Development from UW-Green Bay and her Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University.

Welcome Alex Antonen

Alex started as the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations on July 15, 2013.  Prior to starting at UW-Green Bay he was employed at the University of Minnesota for four years as the Women’s Basketball student manager.  He earned is BS at the University of Minnesota in Kinesiology.  His hometown is Lake Norden, South Dakota.  He has three younger siblings, Emily, Abby, and Kirby, is a New York Yankees fan and likes to golf.

Welcome Shannon Hartel

Shannon started on July 15, 2013, as the IT Technical Services Web Developer.  Prior to starting at UW-Green Bay he worked at Humana for two years.  He earned is BS in Management Computer Systems at UW-Whitewater.  His hometown is Sturgeon Bay, WI.  He is married to Angela and they have a son named Griffin.

Welcome Quintenilla Merriweather

Quintenilla started as the Area Coordinator in the Office of Residence Life on July 1, 2013.  Prior to starting at UW-Green Bay she was employed at the University of Nebraska Kearney as the Graduate Hall Director.  She is involved with Special Olympics and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Digital Broadcast Journalism and Master of Science in Counseling.  She is from Milton-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire, England, UK.  Quintenilla’s hobbies include biking, reading, watching old movies and watching football.  Welcome Quintenilla!
