On August 22, 2016, the Humanistic Studies/English Department welcomed Emily Ransom as an Assistant Professor!
Emily studies Renaissance literature and the religious culture of early modern England. She just completed her Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship year and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. She also holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University and has studied language and book history at University College—Cork, National University of Ireland—Galway, the Paideia Institute in Rome, and the Folger Institute in Washington, DC. While at Notre Dame she had the privilege of teaching a series of great books seminars at the South Bend Center for the Homeless, participating in an urban revitalization organization, and singing in a local gospel choir.
Emily is from the rural town of Rolesville, North Carolina, and looks forward to sharing Wisconsinites’ love of the great outdoors, comfort food, and good music.
Welcome, Emily!
