1. When did you graduate? May, 2009
2. What do you do now? I work for a non-profit organization in Washington DC called The Washington Center. I provide career advisement to students as they enroll in our academic internship programming.
3. Why did you major in psychology? I originally wanted to be Child and Adolescent psychologist as I was, and still am, deeply interested in concepts of human behavior. After numerous revisions of my career plan, and a sincere amount of input from faculty and staff at UWGB, I ended up shifting my focus to Student Affairs, where I am now using multiple aspects of educational psychology in my work.
4. What do you do for fun? I play video games, read books, watch movies and participate in the UW CAN (Campus Alumni Network) softball and football leagues in the DC area. I also love to sing, and will seek out Karaoke opportunities at all times. Exploring DC is another huge focus, as there is always something new to see, do, eat, learn, etc.
5. What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? What I am most proud of was the level of interaction I had with faculty in the Psych department. In my final two years at UWGB, I had 3 Teaching Assistantships, 2 Research Assistantships and an Internship. I am most proud to have had such a supportive department that would allow that level of involvement that many of graduate cohort expressed jealousy of.
6. What’s your favorite movie, book, and TV show, related to psychology? Right now, I’ve been watching a lot of Psych, which does cover, albeit in a goofy way, criminal psychology. Other than that, Memento is an amazing movie.
7. What is an important goal or accomplishment you are currently working on? One goal I have is to eventually get a doctorate, and focus more on Higher Educational Policy to help impact change in a broader spectrum.
8. What else do you want people to know about you? Had the faculty of UWGB’s Psychology and Human Development Departments not been so engaging and focused on student experience, I don’t know that I would be where I am today. A lot of the confidence, research acumen, and communication I do on a day to day basis, I learned at UWGB.
