From the Director’s Desk – Spring 2021

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change, so do our adjustments and accommodations for prospective students. Here at UW-Green Bay, we’re striving to remove as many barriers as possible for you – and the students you serve. From programming options and counselor resources to our new student portal, we’re working hard every day to bring higher education to as many students as possible.

Counselor Hub

We wouldn’t be able to do our work without you. So, my team and I have created a Counselor Hub – a webpage that provides easy access to resources that you may need or choose to provide to your students. The Counselor Hub includes two video libraries, resources translated into Spanish, financial aid for non-resident students, and special programs that UW-Green Bay Admissions offers.

One video library contains Academic Career Planning videos recorded by our counselors that walk students through different parts of their academic journey – from applications and essays to choosing a career path and more. The second video library contains academic program overviews. Several professors from around the University provided an overview of their majors and the subjects that they teach, hoping to spark interest in students to learn more!

Even though we’re virtual, there are still several ways that we can visit your students, or that they can visit us! The Counselor Hub goes indepth on our offerings and who to contact to set them up, but here’s a quick rundown:

  • Express Admissions – Students can apply and be admitted in one day!
  • Financial Aid Nights – Admissions counselors are available to answer financial aid questions and help students file the FAFSA.
  • Get It Done Days – Admissions counselors help already admitted students complete their next steps toward enrolling.
  • Virtual appointments – One-on-one meetings with an admissions counselor.
  • Classroom presentations – An admissions counselor-led presentation about various admissions topics of your choice. You choose the agenda!

We’ll continue to update our Counselor Hub as we find more resources that may be of value to you!

Wings Portal

New for admitted students, the Wings Portal is where future Phoenix can complete their next steps toward enrollment, meet and chat with other incoming students, schedule visits, and arrange to meet with a counselor or current student. Once admitted, students should set up their UW-Green Bay credentials and use them to log into the portal.

As always, if there are any additional needs that we can fill, don’t hesitate to reach out! Our office would love to serve you and your students in as many ways as we can. Stay warm, and stay safe!
