A Canvas update on Monday, Dec. 29, will introduce a new student experience for submitting assignments and viewing feedback. Here’s what to know about this “Assignment Enhancements” redesign:
- Submitting to assignments is more intuitive. Students start a submission by selecting a submission type button at the bottom of the assignment page (File Upload, Text Entry, and more). They no longer need to scroll back to the top of the page to find the “Start Assignment” button.
- Rubric and annotation feedback is no longer hidden behind multiple clicks! Students can view their submissions, instructor feedback comments, rubric ratings, and document annotation feedback all on the assignment page.
- Peer Reviews are easier to navigate. With the redesign, students can more easily locate and complete assigned Peer Reviews.
While this change will not have a direct impact on the instructor experience in Canvas, we encourage instructors to use Student View with their assignments after Dec. 29 to try the new student experience. If you provide students with instructions on how to complete assignments and view feedback in Canvas, please update those instructions to follow these new Canvas Student Guide articles:
