So what’s the food like?

I think it’s safe to say that the food in High School is not exactly five star dining. And most of you probably couldn’t wait until your junior or Senior year to eat outside of school and hit up an Arby’s or something. Some of you might be thinking what’s the food like in college, is it simular to High School? Well I’m here to tell you that food at UWGB is nothing like High School. There are so many options and choices that you’ll never be sad with whats on the menu! In this blog I will tell you about the dining options and different food choices that are available at UWGB.

First off you can purchase all food items with your UWGB student ID. It is very simular to an ID that you most likely have right now in High School. Your student ID is very important, besides purchasing food it allows you to pay for games in the union, print out projects in the computer lab, and enables you to get into your dorm room. If you are going to be living in a residence hall at UWGB, it will be mandatory for all students to have a dining plan. It is a great way to put money onto your student ID for food that will last you the entire year. It also saves you from having to constatly carry around cash or have to worry about getting cash to eat. And more money can be added to your ID at any point during the year. You can visit the UWGB University Union website for more information regarding dining plans. http://www.uwgb.edu/union/id/diningplans.asp Of course you can always pay with cash as well at any place that serves food here on campus. Here are the different places here at UWGB where you can grab a bite!

The Market Place in the Leona Cloud Commons

The Cloud Commons is the biggest place to eat on campus. It would probably be the closest to a cafeteria you are used to in High School. The only difference is that UWGB has many many different choices and different types of food. There is sub place simular to Subway called Sub Connection. There is the Green Bay Market that features home cooked meat loaf to chicken parmesan. I pizza spot with all different kinds of pizza and bread sticks. Pastabilities is a place where you can pasta dishes with different combinations of meats and vegetables. And finally Ultimate Baja serves you an authentic mexican cuisine at a great value with tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and more.

Common Grounds Coffehouse

Yes there is a coffeehouse in the Student Union at UWGB. It is a really nice place to sit down and relax after a long day of classes. It’s a great place to grab a cup of gourmet coffee or tea and listen to music next to a fire. It’s also a place to surf the web and play board games with your friends. The Common Grounds Coffeehouse hosts different performances from artists and muscians over the course of the year.

Corner Store

The Corner Store is basically a UWGB’s very own mini-grocery store. It has a wide selection of college student necessities and you can pay for all of it with your dining points on your Student ID. It is a great place to grab something to drink before class or get something your forgot for a recipe.

  1. I think it is a great idea to put the control over the food into the hands of the people who eat it. Not some administration who gets better food anyway, but at a university the students should have the possibility to influence what is served. This way no one is going to be able to complain either, because they decided on what they get themselves!

PS: Lucky people who get good food at universities… Unfortunately I don’t belong to them 🙁

  2. Go Packers… Yes the food is pretty good I’m Live in Wausau and go to school In GB anything is better then high school food…

  3. Meals at UWGB are a complete step up from any high school cafeteria dining. Its so easy to just use my student ID for meals and I don’t have to think about getting groceries or trying to cook in the dorms. I don’t care for Freshens though. I just don’t like smoothies.
