International Students: Costs and Scholarships

Cost of attendance and scholarship information varies according to several factors for UW-Green Bay students. For international students, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay requires certification of adequate financial support from all students with non-immigrant visas.  A financial support statement and letter from the bank will be required of all students and/or sponsors. All fees are subject to change without notice. Fees are based on estimates and will be updated upon your arrival. All amounts are given in US dollars.

Cost for All Programs (except Engineering)

Expense  Amount
Tuition and Fees  $15,730
Housing  $4,240
Meals  $3,000
Books and Supplies  $800
Health/Accident Insurance  $1,530
Total  $25,300

Costs Specific to Engineering Students

Expense  Amount
Tuition and Fees  $17,130
Housing  $4,240
Meals  $3,000
Books and Supplies  $800
Health/Accident Insurance  $1,530
Total  $26,700

This is a relatively conservative budget for a student who plans carefully and is willing to share living quarters with another student. While some students may need less money, many students find that they spend more than this amount. This estimate does not include the cost of international travel and having an automobile. Students holding F-1 or J-1 visas may be eligible to work part-time on campus. Such positions cannot be guaranteed; therefore, applicants cannot depend on campus employment as a source of financial support.

Scholarships Are Available

The Phoenix Scholar Award is available for all incoming international students.

Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic achievements. UW-Green Bay has set criteria for the levels of Phoenix Scholar Awards available to international students based on their past academic performance, specifically test scores or grade point average. All students must also be enrolled full-time to receive a Phoenix Scholar Award. Awards range from $3,000 – $5,000 per year and will be renewed annually as long as students maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75.

There is no separate application to submit – Phoenix Scholar Award recipients are notified of their awards when they are admitted to the university. Students must have an application to the university on file by the following deadlines in order to be eligible for the award:

      • November 1 for the spring semester
      • June 1 for the fall semester

If you have any questions about the scholarship, please do not hesitate to contact us.
