AUDITION NOTICE for Lost Girl by Kimberly Belflower and The Mad Ones by Kait Kerrigan and Bree Lowdermilk

WHEN: Thursday, November 9th, 2023

UW-Green Bay Theatre and Dance welcomes ALL current UWGB students to participate in all aspects of production work. Theatre & Dance majors and minors are expected to work on at least one production each semester to further the techniques and methods being taught in their coursework.

Production One Information:

Lost Girl by Kimberley Bellflower

Directed by Rebecca Stone Thornberry

First Rehearsal: Monday, January 22nd, 2024

Tech Rehearsals: Saturday, February 24th through Wednesday, February 28th

Public Performances: February 29th and March 1st at 7:30pm, March 2nd at 2:00pm and 7:30pm

Strike: Sunday, March 3rd

Casting is open to the entire UWGB community. We are particularly interested in seeing diverse actors from a variety of backgrounds.

Gender presentation is noted for characters, but actors of all genders will be considered for any role in which they are interested. Lost boys need not be played exclusively by cis-gender men. Female roles need not be played exclusively by cis-gender women.

A note on the intimacy required in the show: The boy and Wendy kiss and lay on a bed together (no nudity) and may gently hold or caress one another. Wendy and Peter kiss (simple and sweet). Wendy and Slightly have a longer, more involved and passionate kiss.

All intimate moments will be choreographed with the active involvement and consent of the actors. Other examples of touch that may be required include more day-to-day touch such as actors being asked to touch a scene partner’s hand, arm, or upper back but nothing particularly sexual or involved.

CASTING INFORMATION

AVAILABLE ROLES:

    • Wendy—Female, 18-20, sometimes 13-14ish. A storyteller. She is sometimes melancholy but also openhearted and hopeful, with an undercurrent of tough determination. She kisses Peter, Slightly, and the boy (see intimacy note below).
    • Peter—Male, 13ish, then 18-20. Always well-intentioned. Charismatic. Peter is not the villain, and he has his own story. Kisses Wendy (see intimacy note below).
    • A / B / C—Female, 16-22. They play the chorus and different versions of Wendy from her past, memories distorted through time, and may play other girls who went to Neverland. (See casting note below).
    • Mother—Female, 40s. Tired, thoughtful, and patient. She wants Wendy to move on with her life.
    • Cora—Female, 16-22. A girl who, like Wendy, also spent some time in Neverland. No-nonsense. May also play A.
    • Callie—Female, 16-22. A girl who, like Wendy, also spent some time in Neverland. Romantic but self-aware. May also play B.
    • Krista— Female, 16-22. A girl who, like Wendy, also spent some time in Neverland. Empathetic. May also play C.
    • Nina— Female, 16-22. She is interviewing the girls who came back from Neverland. Curious and kind.
    • Slightly—Male, 18-22. A former lost boy who has now returned from Neverland. Careful, caring, and fiercely loyal. He is in-love with Wendy. He kisses Wendy (see intimacy note below).
    • Toodles—Male, 16-22. A former lost boy who has now returned from Neverland. Careful, caring, and fiercely loyal. Silly and sincere. May also play Therapist.
    • Nibs—Male, 18-22. A former lost boy who has now returned from Neverland. Logical and acerbic. May also play Detective.
    • Curly—Male, 18-22. A former lost boy who has now returned from Neverland. Laid-back but observant. May also play Doctor.

CASTING INFORMATION

 AVAILABLE ROLES

      • Samantha Brown – 18 years old – smart, funny; fearful and anxious; sometime might go unnoticed by others but a strong powerhouse is waiting to come out.
      • Kelly Manning – 18 years old – Sam’s best friend, carefree, curious, and adventurous; embraces life and defies risk; extroverted would be an understatement.
      • Beverly – early 50s – Sam’s mom, a statistician; logical and brilliant; has become emotional and unusually attentive towards Sam, which freaks Sam out.
      • Adam – 18 years old – Sam’s boyfriend; loves food and Sam.

Intimacy notes: Physical contact amongst characters is referenced throughout the written text, including (but not limited to) hugging, touching arms and shoulders, and dancing. Sam and Adam share several kisses that range in intensity; once scene involves them talking about having sex and Sam begins to undress Adam before he pulls away (no nudity); the scene concludes with them moving to a bed as the lights dim, implying they are about to have sex.

All moments that actors deem as intimate will be choreographed by an intimacy director with the full involvement and consent of the actors.
