Sometimes, our mental health takes a back seat—but it deserves attention too. While it can be difficult to ask for help during tough times, there are always accessible resources and support for your unique needs.

At UW-Green Bay, most mental health resources are listed on the Phoenix Cares webpage. Phoenix Cares is managed by UW-Green Bay’s Dean of Students to aid students in any way they need. Whether it’s a personal or campus-wide concern, they’ve got you!
Counseling/General Student Resources
Sometimes when you’re struggling, all you need is someone to talk to, but it can be difficult to reach out to those around you. Counseling services are available when you need to talk through things and develop healthy mental habits beyond sessions.
UW-Green Bay provides multiple counseling options, crisis-support services and tips on how to care for your well-being long term.
- Plash AI Bot — For immediate assistance with any issue, text the Phlash AI bot at 1-833-740-0667. Phlash is available 24/7 to provide help for your specific needs. Some options include mental, academic or financial support readily available to you.
- Wellness Center Counseling — You don’t need to travel far or empty your wallet for this service. It’s free counseling right on campus with trusted, licensed psychologists. Here is a list of the counseling services provided.
- Mantra — Occasionally, the Wellness Center doesn’t have appointments open at your desired time. If this happens or you prefer virtual counseling, Mantra is a Universities of Wisconsin-sponsored counseling alternative to the Wellness Center.
- Crisis Resources — If you need immediate financial, housing or other support, visit the Crisis Resources page. You can apply for the Phoenix Emergency Grant, browse food options like the Campus Cupboard and view Emergency Housing Options.
- General Wellbeing Resources — Information and tips on supporting your mental and physical wellness as a college student and beyond. You’ll find digital platforms like the “YOU” hub, learning dimensions of well-being and financial planning to avoid hardship.
- Kress Center Facilities — Moving your body supports healthy physical and mental health. The Kress Center has multiple facilities like a gym, pool, climbing tower and UREC opportunities to help you stay active.
- Sexual Assault Support — Direct support and aid for sexual assault victims, whether you need to report an assault, aren’t sure what to do after being assaulted or need help recovering from assault.
- Report a Concern — Report personal, student body or campus concerns through forms provided on this webpage. It can be related to bias, discrimination, harm to another student, self-harm or any concern you have.
Academic Resources
The stress of multiple classes and stacked due dates can be overbearing, but there are ways to make it easier. Reaching out to your academic advisor or seeking academic support can help you succeed without worry.

Finding Your People
College can be lonely when you feel like you don’t fit in anywhere, and when you’re struggling with mental health, having good friends and a support system is key. Getting involved on campus is the number one way to help you meet new people, but it can be hard to take that first step.
That’s why UW-Green Bay’s Student Engagement Center provides events and easy ways to meet people with similar interests and make friends on campus.
- Go to an Event — Every year there are more than a thousand events on campus, and you’re invited! Some events are even geared toward specific groups like transfer, international, incoming freshman or commuter students.
- Explore UREC — Explore multiple group activities or classes ranging from exhilarating outdoor adventure trips to calming yoga. There are various intensity levels and time slots to meet your needs.
- Find an On-Campus Job — Meet new people on campus, get valuable work experience and get paid for it!
