UW-Green Bay Civic Scholars Leadership Program

The UW-Green Bay Center for Civic Engagement offers the Civic Scholars Leadership Program each year. It is a year-long program aimed to help prepare sophomore students to become civic professionals and citizen leaders through interdisciplinary civic engagement opportunities with a focus on the City of Green Bay. This Fall, Civic Scholars are visiting various organizations in the Greater Green Bay area, typically non-profits. From these visits, students learn about the impacts and actions the organizations are making in the community. In addition, self-reflection and leadership development are key values in the program.

The Civic Scholars FEAST (Fundraising, Engagement, and Allocation of Sweet Treats) provides a venue for Scholars to work in groups to address pressing social issues facing the Greater Green Bay community. Drawing on civic exploration throughout the semester and insights gained from their community visits, Scholars explore potential solutions and present their innovative solutions at this open forum attended by campus and community members. Topics for projects have included homelessness, transportation, sexual violence, and environmental issues. The FEAST Project Showcase will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 8am at the Mauthe Center on the UW-Green Bay campus. Come support and vote for the students’ project showcase! $1 admission fee contributes to crowd-fundraising initiatives.
