UW-Green Bay’s Lifelong Learning Institute – Take Joy in Learning Together

Do you enjoy learning for the fun of it? How does taking classes without the worry of grades, tests, or papers sound? Are you looking to make friends and expand your connections in our community? If this sounds appealing to you, come learn what UW-Green Bay’s Lifelong Learning program is all about! Lifelong Learning Institute is hosting a free introductory event at The Weidner on Wednesday, July 17, in the Fort Howard Hall at 10 a.m. At this event we will explain more about the program, answer some FAQs, and even have a shortened class for you to sample!

Each semester over 650 members take joy in learning together with their choice of hundreds of classes taught by current and retired faculty and community enthusiasts. LLI has created an exciting line-up of 190+ in-person courses, live and recorded online classes, outdoor classes and tours for Fall 2024 semester. Course topics include arts, crafts, culinary, fitness, science and nature, and more. History courses like “Con Artists of Ancient Greece and Rome” debunk long-held myths. Members could also tour a 1950s windmill or learn how to quilt.

“Lifelong Learning is a wonderful opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with other great people in our community,” says program specialist Heidi Jahnke. “We have a variety of programming to suit everyone’s interests. I like to say, ‘If you can imagine it, we’ve probably had a class on it!’ Between classroom lectures, tours, zoom classes and hands-on courses, there really is something for everyone. Check out our catalog and join a thriving community of learners!”

An online course listing for Fall 2024 and a downloadable PDF will be available on July 8 at https://www.uwgb.edu/lifelong-learning-institute/, and registration will open Tuesday, July 30 at 10 a.m. Interested individuals are encouraged to register early for the best selection. Courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You must join as a member to take courses.

The annual LLI membership fee is $150 and includes two semesters of courses. Members may initially register for up to 15 classes per semester with additional classes available based on enrollment. Other benefits to membership include: exclusive invitations to social events, early bird notice of registration, subscription to members-only newsletter and special invitations to unique day trip and domestic travel opportunities (may require an extra fee).
