The Truth About the Civil War

Thursday April 14th
7PM to 8PM

Rose Hall 250
University of Wisconsin- Green Bay

Speaker Michael Edmonds
Deputy Director of Library & Archives
Wisconsin Historical Society

Free and open to the public.

In his talk, The Truth About the Civil War,  Michael Edmonds will unveil an amazing new digital collection and discuss how everyone from genealogists to re-enactors; from students and teachers to scholars can enjoy it.  The Wisconsin Historical Society launched an ambitious project to make original materials about the Civil War available in a free, searchable electronic format.   This new collection, Wisconsin in the Civil War, contains thousands of photographs, diaries, memoirs, letters, battle maps, and eyewitness accounts created by Wisconsin soldiers.

Edmonds will also share insights gained from his experience of working eighteen months with firsthand evidence, starting with the basic question, “Why should anyone care about the Civil War 150 years later?”

Sponsored by the Cofrin Library as part of the 2011 National Library Week festivities

Hello, Sounds amazing! Will you be taking this seminar on the road? Will you have a chance to visit the NW corner of the state before June? Would love to be able to attend this program closer to the Hayward, Superior, or Eau Claire area if possible.

    Thank you!

Joni, I’m sorry you’ll miss the presentation. The database, Wisconsin in the Civil War, will be free and open to the public. Watch for it on the Wisconsin Historical Society’s website: http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/

Hello! I would LOVE to come to your lecture. However, I will be in Jamaica on this date. How can I purchase this information? I am a Civil War Re-enactor and feel this information will be invaluable to me. Thank you!
