Green focuses on programming

Katie Green (Delie) ’99 continues her dedication to the success and growth of the Weidner Center For the Performing Arts in her new role as director of programming.

Most recently she served as Executive Director and then President of the non-profit organization Weidner Center Presents, Inc.

7:30 p.m., January 23-24 — UW-Green Bay Theatre: Student-directed play, The Shape of Things, Jean Weidner Theatre, Weidner Center. FREE!

4 p.m., January 29 — Jazz Fest, Weidner Center

7:30 p.m., February 24, 25, 26, March 2, 3, 4, 5Twelve Angry Jurors, directed by John Mariano

Reginald Rose’s timeless American classic finds twelve strangers sequestered in the jurors’ room as they review and discuss the evidence from a murder trial in which a young man has been accused of killing his own father. With the boy’s life at stake, the jury’s charge is not as simple as it first seems. Emotions run high as the jury forman seeks true justice in the unanimous decision needed.

An Evening of Miniatures

The UW-Green Bay music program has an extensive fall line-up including a free concert, “An Evening of Miniatures,” Saturday, Oct. 16, a Chorale & Concert Choir Concert, Wednesday Oct. 20 and a Wind Symphony & Symphonic Band Concert, Saturday, Oct. 23. See the full schedule of events.

Almost, Maine

UW-Green Bay Theatre presents its production of John Cariani’s play Almost, Maine, Thursday, Oct. 14 at the Weidner Center. Almost, Maine offers a glimpse of the joys and perils of finding romance in remote and unexpected areas. Click www.uwgb.edu/arts for more.

Mostly Indian and Other Fables

An exhibition of contemporary Native art, co-curated by Dr. Stephen Perkins and Amii John, will be held in the Lawton Gallery at UW-Green Bay Oct. 7-Nov. 4. This exhibition of works by twenty-four Native artists from across the United States and Canada illustrates the complex nature of the contemporary Native experience. The works celebrate the many ways in which Native artists are working with old and new traditions in order to create works that respond not only to the present but also the past and the future. Ga Ga over Goo Goo Dolls, Oct. 10

Weidner CenterThe Rock Trio Goo Goo Dolls will be playing a show Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 at the Weidner Center on the UW-Green Bay campus. The Goo Goo Dolls are natives of Buffalo, NY and gained popularity in the mid-90s with their hit “Iris” from the City of Angels soundtrack.

Stage Doors Series kicks off 2010-11 series

Since beginning the Stage Doors Education Series in the fall of 2006, Weidner Center Presents Inc. has served more than 60,000 students in grades K-12 with their programming at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.  Made possible by the support of numerous individuals and organizations, including the support of UW-Green Bay, the new 2010-2011 Stage Doors Education Series has just kicked off, offering 11 titles and 22 performances.
