Rick Chernick and Jim Wochinske (both ’74) made the challenge – YOU accepted! All told, UW-Green Bay Alumni contributed $92,362 new dollars (that’s gifts from new donors or increases from previous gifts). When you add the $50,000 Rick and Jim pledged to match, that’s $142,362 additional dollars to support student scholarships and programs at the University. Here’s how we said thank you.
Maria Hinton ’79 and Dr. Mokenge Malafa ’82 received Distinguished Alumni Awards, given to those who graduated more than 15 years ago. (At 101, Maria Hinton also holds the distinction of being UW-Green Bay’s oldest living alumni). Recent graduates Jacqueline Frank ’00 and Dr. Laura Rammer ’01 received the Outstanding Recent Alumni Awards. The event was held April 28 at the Weidner Center.

UW-Green Bay will achieve a new record when more than 900 students join the ranks of alumni after Commencement on Saturday, May 12 in the Kress Events Center on campus. This is our largest graduating class to date! Stop by to congratulate these new alums at the Grad Reception at Titletown Brewing Co. (200 Dousman Street, Green Bay) between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. that night. Event includes hors d’oeuvres and door prizes.
Mark your calendars for UW-Green Bay Prof. Brian Sutton’s original musical comedy Searching for Romeo. The play re-imagines the story of Romeo and Juliet from the perspective of the story’s “losers.” Being the leads in a romantic comedy, Rosaline and Paris achieve something that eludes Romeo and Juliet: a happy ending.
