1. When did you graduate?
I graduated in May 2016 with a major in psychology and minor in human development.

2. What do you do now?
I am currently a clinical/community mental health graduate student at Western Illinois University. I’m in my second year and next year will be going onto internship which is super exciting!

3. Why did you major in psychology?
I majored in psychology because I always thought human behavior was interesting. As I grew up I began to notice how addiction, mental illness, and suicide impacted the world and my family. I had experiences in my life that also pushed me to think about human behavior differently. When I was in high school I was able to take an Introduction to Psychology college class and I loved it! It instantly caught my eye and I wanted to learn more. I new I wanted to major in psychology before I even started my first year at college.

4. What do you do for fun?
For fun I work out, read, and play with my cat Jordy (yes, he is named after Jordy Nelson). I also binge watch Netflix when I can!

5. What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my honors project that I complete during my senior year at UW-Green Bay. It looked at survivors of suicide and their life after a loved one had died by suicide. I found this project really rewarding and I met a lot of great people. Connected to that, I had the honor of presenting my honors project at the first Psi Talks. Speaking in front of that many people made me a bit nervous but I am so glad I had the opportunity to do it. I learned a lot and was able to teach people about a topic I am very passionate about.

6. What’s your favorite movie, book, and TV show, related to psychology?
My favorite movie related to psychology is Split. It was a great movie but of course not completely accurate in how they portrayed multiple personality disorder. My favorite TV show related to psychology is Mind Hunters which is on Netflix. I have always found forensic psychology fascinating and this show does a great job at explaining it. I would definitely recommend it! My favorite book related to psychology is Impulse by Ellen Hopkins. It’s a story about teenagers in a mental hospital for various reasons such as eating disorders, suicide attempts, and self-injury.

7. What an important goal or accomplishment you are currently working on?
Currently an important goal I am working in is finding an internship that meets the requirements for my program. It’s been a bigger task than I thought especially since I am trying to find one in the corrections department.
