UW-Green Bay Theatre and Dance welcomes ALL current UWGB students to participate in all aspects of production work. Theatre & Dance majors and minors are expected to work on at least one production each semester to further the techniques and methods being taught in their coursework.

Dr. Bellboy and the Fantastical Fight with the Energy Vampire

First Rehearsal: Week of December 8th, 2025 there will be some initial readings of the text. Nightly rehearsals will not begin until February.

Tech Rehearsal: February 19th, 2026 

Public Performances: February 20th and 21st at 7:30pm

NOTE: This is a workshop production that will be script-in-hand and include some minimal staging. The focus will be on workshopping the text and music with cast in preparation for future revisions. Each performance will host a post-show discussion with audience attendees.

CASTING INFORMATION:

CHARLES WELTON, Ph.D. – Bell Attendant at the hotel. Former professor of Art History. Early to mid-40s.

SOPHIE PEMBROKE – Talented young performer looking to “give it a shot” in NYC. 23-25 years.

DOROTHY PARKER – American poet and writer. A ghost. Mid-30s.

ARTHUR “Harpo” MARX – American performer and comedian. Also ghost. Mid-30s.

GEORGE S. KAUFFMAN – American playwright, humanist, and critic. Also, also a ghost. Mid-30s.

ENSEMBLE – 3-5 members who portray Charles’ boss as well as hotel guests and various apparitions.

Tech Rehearsals: March 27th through March 31st, 2026 

Public Performances: April 1st through 3rd at 7:30pm and April 4th at 2:00pm

Strike: Week of April 6th

Constellations is a two person play about a young hetero couple in different phases of a relationship that takes place in the multiverse. Those interested in auditioning should be aware of the following demands on these two actors: 

  • Memorizing an entire play in which you virtually never leave the stage and have responsibility for half the lines (not to mention the listening) 
  • Scenes involving romantic kissing and romantic touch 
  • Learning American Sign Language (ASL) for one 2–3-minute scene 

Brief monologues for Roland and Marianne will be provided. Please prepare one to read after your monologue. 

Please include on your audition form whether you have any experience with sign language and what role(s) you are interested in. 

The most successful auditions will include a memorized 1-minute monologue of your choosing + a reading of the appropriate Roland/Marianne monologue(s). 

You may also present an unmemorized monologue with script in hand + a reading of the appropriate Roland/Marianne monologue(s).

Student Written and Directed One Act Festival

Company Meeting: February 16th, 2026

Tech Rehearsals: April 22nd through April 29th, 2026 

Public Performances: April 30th through May 2nd at 7:30pm

Strike: Week of May 4th

UWGB Theatre and Dance seeks to cast a company of students to participate in the second Student Written and Directed One Act Festival. Those cast in the company will fulfill various roles based upon the needs of the production, including acting, designing, stage managing, and more. 

To be considered for acting roles within the festival, please attend general auditions. At this time, students will be cast in the company, with callbacks/additional auditions in the spring semester to determine exact roles.

If you are not interested in acting, but would like to participate in a design, technical, or management role, please contact Sera Shearer (shearers@uwgb.edu).

Student playwrights may submit their work for consideration to Dr. Thomas Campbell (campbelt@uwgb.edu) by December 1st, 2025.

Students interested in directing a one act play MUST enroll in THEATRE 351: Directing I.

AUDITION PROCESS

Wednesday, November 19th: Open Auditions

6:30pm-9:30pm in the Jean Weidner Theatre

If you have trouble with the website or have any questions, please contact Production Manager Sera Shearer (shearers@uwgb.edu) to schedule by email. Audition forms and intimacy disclosures may be sent in electronic form to Sera Shearer, or may be turned in upon check-in for your chosen audition time. Extra forms will be available on audition day.

All auditioning should prepare a 1-minute monologue of their choosing. Cold reading materials will also be available at the audition check-in table.

Those auditioning for Dr. Bellboy should also prepare a brief musical selection. Please plan to either provide an accompaniment track or sing a cappella.

Those auditioning for Constellations should also prepare one of the provided monologues from the play, ideally memorized.

Performers invited to callbacks will receive a phone call the evening of November 19th with all relevant information, and a callback list will be posted on the callboard the next morning. Those called back will receive specific instructions upon notification and should plan to stay for the duration of the callback session. 

Callback materials will be provided via email prior to the callback session, and hard copies will be available for your use upon arrival.

If you are interested in auditioning but are unable to attend the open audition, please contact Sera Shearer (shearers@uwgb.edu) as soon as possible. Every effort will be made to schedule an alternative time.

Perusal Scripts for Constellations and Dr. Bellboy will be available for 1-day checkout in TH 331. You are strongly encouraged to read the script prior to auditioning.

It is our intention to post a complete cast and crew list on the Theatre Hall callboard by November 25th, 2025. If you are not cast and indicate an interest in crew, you will be assigned to that crew pending availability. If the crew you are interested in is full, you will be contacted by Sera Shearer to select a new crew role.

Students involved in cast or crew of Theatre Mainstage productions are required to register for Theatre 350 – Production Practicum for 1 credit hour.
