AUDITION NOTICE: Spring 2025

AUDITIONS FOR

The Angel Next Door by Paul Slade Smith

WHEN: Thursday, November 21, 2024

UW-Green Bay Theatre and Dance welcomes ANY current UWGB students to participate in all aspects of production work. Theatre & Dance majors and minors are expected to work on at least one production each semester to further the techniques and methods being taught in their coursework.

All roles will be cast with an open eye regarding the gender identity of the actor, but the gender presentation of the role must be as written.

There are no scenes of intimacy, but there may be some playfully flirtatious interactions (including some touch) between them as well as moments of casual physical touch.

As a farce, this is a physically active play demanding full commitment to physical energy and precision throughout.

Please consider all of the above as you prepare to audition.

At auditions, comic monologues from other plays will be available to read.

You give yourself the best chance at securing a role if you come prepared with:

    • a memorized comic monologue or a memorized comic scene with a partner (Best)
    • a prepared, unmemorized comic monologue (next best)
    • a cold reading of a comic monologue (good)

The above is the hierarchy of what is likely to be most effective, but all are encouraged to audition and will be given a full opportunity to secure a role.

ABOUT THE PLAY:

The Setting: Newport, Rhode Island 1948

CHARLOTTE SANDERS, a successful Broadway playwright smart, resourceful, optimistic female, 50’s to 60’s
