Spring Semester Anticipation

There are a lot of things that I look forward to about spring semester; having a regular schedule, new experiences of all the classes I am in, and most importantly graduation at the end of the semester.  My position as a Spring TA also has me looking forward to the new semester, this new role is thrilling and nerve-wracking at the same time.  I am most looking forward to being able to use my psychology background and the new information of Psych 101 to help students answer the everyday questions and misunderstandings of what is being discussed specifically in class.  Along with the everyday questions I am looking forward to using my experiences as a student and what I have already learned through my 4 years in school to help the students with big-picture problems, such as study habits, note-taking, and test-taking skills that will help students not only in this class, but hopefully for the rest of their years in college.

On the other hand, the nerve-wracking side of my brain also has some opinions.  I am more interested than worried to see how I handle sitting in a lecture, but focusing more on the students and their reactions than the actual lecture.  I have spent the majority of my life sitting in class and focusing completely on the professor and what they are saying, in this class I will be focusing less on the lecture and more on how the class is reacting to the lecture.  The one moment I am looking forward to the least would be the moment I am asked a question and I have no answer for them.  I realize that this moment will happen more than once, but it is the first time that it happens that is the most worrisome for me.  I know exactly how to handle the situation, I am simply hoping it happens sooner rather than later for the fact that after the first time, the questions I do not have an answer to will become easier to handle.

Overall, I am more excited than nervous for the spring semester and more specifically my new role as a TA for Psychology 101.
