up the hill…

this feels like the last 400 yards of the road america course. last year i skated the “road america inline challenge” and i was thinking that because it was only 12 miles it was going to be a breeze. weeeeell…not so much the case since the track has 3 hills, each progressively bigger and the hill right before the finish line is huge. from the beginning of it, you can’t even see the top because it plateaus three quarters of the way up and when you think the hill is over…there’s another section. after that race i fully understood why it was only 3 laps and why it was called a “challenge.” the last two weeks have felt like that plateau. i have to admit it’s challenging to return to school at my age. i come into it with an expectation level not only of myself, but of my classmates and then have to deal with the disappointment when classes aren’t as engaging and interesting as i’d hoped, or i get stuck doing a group presentation project with members who do not know what an outline is. not only are the challenges of school challenging, but then there’s the personal side of life. along with major life transitions come some uncomfortable realities and i can’t stand letting my personal stuff interfere with “business.” i’ve been spacing out, losing track of time, stressing out and falling behind. after recent and minor “come to jesus” moment i’ve shuffled, prioritized and got back in touch with the efficient time manager that i know i am. lol! there are only a few weeks left and i intend to finish this semester with more confidence.

heck, i finished road america in a decent amount of time. i’m just bummed that the next “challenge” isn’t until 2010.

psychteacher list

i am not a fan of this listserv. i’m a member of several groups, many of them on yahoo and this one is a pain to read. the topic synopsis at the beginning is nice, but then you have to open separately attached emails in order to read further. annoying and time consuming. i even tried to look through the archives to get some ideas and have no clue how to search. when i search, it takes me to some weird pages with general searchability. is this the way academia works? cumbersomely? yahoo groups are so much more user friendly…
