Join the Miron Stand-Down for Construction Suicide Prevention

The UW-Green Bay community is honored to support Miron Construction, specifically the crew working on the CTEC construction on the Green Bay campus for a Stand-Down on Monday, September 8, 2025 beginning at 1:45 p.m. in the Weidner valet parking lot. If able, please join the Miron construction crew for this event.

During this event, all present will participate with construction sites across the nation for a moment of silence at 1:50 p.m. to honor those lost by suicide and to reflect how to best provide support to colleagues, friends and families so that not one life is lost to suicide.

While this event is centered around the staggering amount of deaths by suicide in the construction industry, EVERYONE is affected by suicide. Whether a person works in the trades area, is a current student or has pursued and completed a four-year degree from a college, suicide and its effects on loved ones and the community does not differentiate based on the kind of work a person does.

Resources are available. UW-Green Bay’s Wellness Center is launching new suicide prevention program, ‘Recognize, Respond, Refer’ on campus this fall. If you or someone you know needs help, but you’re unsure about how to speak with them about mental health and/or suicide, check out Recognize, Respond, Refer suicide prevention programs at these links: Undergraduate Students,  Graduate Students or Faculty/Staff. UW-Green Bay’s Wellness Center is available to students, faculty and staff at any time. Visit or call them at the Green Bay, Manitowoc or Sheboygan locations. If support is needed outside of regular business hours, call or text UW Mental Health Support 24/7 line at 888-531-2142.

Miron also offers access to the Mental Health HUB which includes additional resources available to anyone in the community.
