Voelker publishes opinion essay on History and Democracy

Professor David Voelker (History & Humanities) has published an op ed in the Cap Times titled “Democracy depends on historical understanding.” He argues that: “An evidence-based historical consciousness is essential for any democratic society. Historical knowledge and understanding provide necessary context for interpreting contemporary events and for holding governments and other institutions accountable.”
