Congrats to the winners of the Third Annual Cofrin School of Business Art Competition!

Congratulations to Victoria Stock and Helena DuBord for their Outstanding Contributions to the Third Annual Cofrin School of Business Art Competition!

We are pleased to announce the winners of the Third Annual Cofrin School of Business Art Competition. This year, students from across UW-Green Bay were challenged to create a piece of artwork that represents the historical or current business environment of Northeast Wisconsin, as well as the Cofrin School of Business’s four core values: Community Engagement, Sustainability, Innovation, and Leadership.

First Place Winner: Victoria Stock

Victoria Stock’s submission, “UWGB Archive – Instructor Giving Accounting Workshop 1975,” was selected as the first-place winner. Victoria shared the inspiration behind her piece:

“I discovered the Cofrin School of Business’s Third Annual Art Competition when I attended a business career fair at the beginning of the semester. I really enjoy vintage images and archival work, so I searched through the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Archival Image Library to find the perfect image to paint. This is an image of a UWGB professor giving a computer workshop in 1975. On the screen is displayed an accounting journal entry, and the computers are an early Apple model. I think this image perfectly encompasses business history and the Northeastern Wisconsin business community. This work highlights all of our core values, but I believe it strongly represents Innovation, Leadership, and Engagement. Unfortunately, the professor in the image is not identified, but they are a clear example of leadership in times when new innovative technology was being introduced. I chose an archival image because, though we may be years and models later, the values we pursued still stand strong.”

Victoria’s piece will be displayed in the Cofrin School of Business collection, starting on the first floor of Wood Hall for the 2025-26 academic year before moving upstairs to the Cofrin School of Business office suite. Be sure to visit and admire this powerful tribute to business history!

Honorable Mention: Helena DuBord

Helena DuBord received Honorable Mention for her sculpture, “Tools for Success.” Helena described her artwork:

“This sculpture, Tools for Success, was created for the Cofrin School of Business annual art competition, emphasizing leadership, represented in a vibrant and dynamic piece. It features many human figures painted in bold acrylic paint, climbing, and supporting one another to reach the top. The colors represent everyone’s unique talents and strengths. The figures are interconnected and layered, symbolizing teamwork and collaboration. Even though the figures are all working together, none of them have reached the top. They lack the leadership and effective tools that are needed to achieve. This represents the knowledge required through the education of the Cofrin School of Business. The leader, climbing the ladder, is the CSB student leading the way for others trying to reach the top. His multicolored exterior reflects the attributes

learned through peers. This piece captures the spirit of leadership through CSB, using outside-of-the-box thinking to help not only oneself but also serve others who need guidance.”

A Spirit of Community Engagement

The Cofrin School of Business (CSB) is proud to support an art competition that showcases creativity and emphasizes the power of community. This competition aims to inspire philanthropy by supporting UW-Green Bay artists while honoring our core values. As Joel Hansen, UWGB alum, CFO of Pomp’s Tire Service, Inc., and Cofrin School of Business Advisory Board member, stated, “Giving back time and treasures to the community that raised us, the community that we raise our families in, and, specifically, to the college that helped cultivate our success, is part of the gratitude we owe for our individual achievement.”

Applications for Next Year’s Competition

We are excited to announce that applications for next year’s art competition will open in early Fall 2025! The competition is open to all UW-Green Bay students, regardless of major or campus. We look forward to another year of creative submissions and to further showcasing the talent and vision of our students.
