uwgb.edu migration is nearing completion!

We are so close—thank you for your patience.

As a reminder: Anything published on the current web platform at this time will NOT be in the new web platform when the switch is made in early December.  A link to a self-paced Canvas course will be sent out the week prior to the transition to K13 that will be your ticket to gain access to the new web platform.  Please don’t send a request to GBIT or Web Dev, but instead sign up for the Canvas course when it is made available. then original email is below. Thank you!

Our new uwgb.edu is on the horizon!

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we look toward a better uwgb.edu.  Over halfway through our web platform migration timeline, we’re excited to share that we’re on track to complete the transition of uwgb.edu to Kentico Xperience 13 (K13) during the first week of December!

Hold on Updates Continues

We appreciate your diligence throughout this transition to hold web updates or use other forms of communication such as blogs, Canvas, etc.  Changes made at this time to the current web platform will not be in K13 once the transition is complete.

Changes You’ll See

This upgrade to K13 primarily improves the web editing experience and doesn’t change what visitors see on uwgb.edu.  The webpages that have been redesigned to the new template will look the same.  For our webpages that are yet to be redesigned to the new template, our goal is to keep them as close to their current structure as possible; however, there are a few changes to note:

  • Headers and footers will now match the headers and footers of redesigned webpages.
  • The left side navigation is gone; instead, the navigation is found in a dropdown menu on the right side, which is consistent with the redesigned webpages.
  • Webpages that go outside of a site—called redirect links—will no longer be in that site’s navigation, but will be placed as links on a page within the site.
  • Parent webpages can now contain content and have been combined with overview webpages.

Sound confusing?  Please watch our K13 Upgrade Update video that provides an overview of the changes, along with explanations for why they were made.

Training for Web Editors

Attention Kentico Editors!  We will be providing a self-paced Canvas course the week prior to the transition to K13 that will be your ticket to gain access to the new web platform.  In the course, you will have the ability to try out K13 as well as gain a basic understanding of the following:

  • Web best practices
  • UW-Green Bay’s visual and editorial style
  • Technical abilities to use the K13 system

At the end of the training, you’ll be asked to submit a form identifying the specific subsites within uwgb.edu to which you need access.  More information will be provided when the Canvas training is available.

As always, if you have questions, please contact Amy Ertman at ertmana@uwgb.edu.
