Memorial bench installed in memory of UW-Green Bay custodian Dave “Buggs” Bugni
This fall, a memorial bench was installed on the Student Services Plaza in memoriam of Dave “Buggs” Bugni, a longtime UW-Green Bay employee. Buggs worked as a custodian in the University Union from 2008 until his retirement in 2020. He sadly passed away on August 10, 2023 just two weeks before his 70th birthday.
Buggs was a cheerful, familiar face to many staff and enjoyed working and interacting with students in the building. He was a jokester and a storyteller, and always gave coworkers updates on all of his kids and grandkids, whom he was so proud of. Buggs was also well known for his delicious homemade beef jerky and his wife’s caramels that he brought to potlucks. He was proud of his time spent at UW-Green Bay and was often seen in University apparel outside of work.
This month, Buggs’ family was able to visit their father’s and grandfather’s memorial bench and spend time remembering his life. Although Buggs is gone, the mark he made on UW-Green Bay will never be forgotten.
