Zorn (Chemistry) and Houghton (Biology) Receive Grant from Department of Commerce and NOAA
Congratulations to Michael Zorn (Professor, Chemistry), Chris Houghton (Assistant Professor, Biology) and Val Klump (UW-Milwaukee) on receiving a $66,000 grant from the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS), for “Monitoring algal blooms and dissolved oxygen concentrations around commercial fishing operations using optimized low-cost LoRaWAN buoy systems”. This research uses low-power, low-cost LoRaWAN capable buoys to monitor water conditions near commercial fishing nets.
