The Midwest Viking Festival

On Friday and Saturday, October 4th and 5th (10 am – 4 pm), more than 60 artisans will be at the grounds of the Viking House.  They will set up an encampment and demonstrate crafts such as textiles, silver and black metal smithing, turning on a pole lathe, coin striking, ceramics, and pit-fire iron-age cooking.  Kari Tauring, Sven Tunheim, and Lars Walker will perform under the giant cedar tree, and Owen Christianson will give tours of the house he built and donated to the UWGB campus.  And there will be demonstrations of various weapons and their use during the Viking Age.  This is a family-friendly event: bring your kids for a Viking Passport Quest!  Caribbean Cruiser will be on site for a delicious snack, and the Sons of Norway Gronvik Lodge will be selling homebaked treats.  Please contact Heidi Sherman with questions.  shermanh@uwgb.edu (920) 465-5146.  Free Admission.
