Calling In: Navigating Challenging Conversations and Cultivating Compassionate Connections
Registration is open for faculty and staff interested in participating in a group learning experience on the practice of “calling in.” Thanks to generous funding from a Teaching Enhancement Grant through the Instructional Development Council, and sponsorship from the Social Work Professional Programs, as a group, we will view the e-course, “Calling In: Navigating Challenging Conversations and Cultivating Compassionate Connections,” taught by human rights activist Loretta Ross. Per its promotional materials, the “course focuses on utilizing strategic language to facilitate constructive dialogue and understanding during challenging conversations to build solidarity in diverse environments.” Viewing will be followed by group conversation centered on implementing these strategies in our work with students. Light refreshments will be served. When? Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 11:30-3:00. Where? The UWGB Campus; room information will be provided in registration confirmation. Registration is open to all UWGB faculty and staff, but is limited to 20 participants. Any additional registrants will be placed on a wait list and notified of cancelations. Priority will be given to registrants who commit to the entire learning experience. Please register here by October 4, 2024. Direct any questions to Jolanda Sallmann (sallmanj@uwgb.edu).
