A study by Dr. Ray Parth (Assistant Professor, Cofrin School of Business) and his research team applied socio-technical systems theory to understand how social media shapes healthcare information management and the adoption of information technologies in healthcare. The research team employed modern data analytics methods, including sentiment analysis and text mining, alongside analytics software, to extract and analyze worldwide data using the X platform (formerly Twitter).
The findings reveal growing public awareness of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and information technologies in healthcare, emphasizing the broader potential of modern technologies to reduce distress and promote well-being—especially during crises like pandemics. The findings offer timely guidance to the healthcare industry, policymakers, business leaders, and health leaders navigating digital transformation in the sector. The research also highlights the critical role of digital platforms in public health communication and shows how virtual coalition-building and crowdsourcing can effectively enhance the dissemination of credible health information. The research paper has been accepted for publication by the International Journal of Intelligent Information (ABDC journal).
