Associate Professor Dr. Rasedul Islam and Student Cade Koschnik Receive Best Paper Award at Prestigious International Conference

Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Dr. Rasedul Islam and his student, Cade Koschnik ’23, have been awarded the ‘Best Paper Award’ at the 11th International Conference of Control, Dynamic Systems, and Robotics (2024) at the University of Toronto, Canada, for their research titled “Dynamic Analysis of a Head-On Sedan Automobile Collision.” Unlike most mathematical crash models that treat a vehicle as a single mass or object, their research bridges a gap in testing and analyzing vehicle collisions, particularly in sub-zero temperatures, by considering the individual components of a vehicle. The registration of this paper at the conference was funded by the UWGB Research Council REP grant.
