Prof. Bansal of Cofrin School of Business invited to participate in a panel on media and government
Dr. Bansal of Cofrin School of Business participated in a panel on Media and Government Day organized by Leadership Green Bay’s Government Day group at the Village of Allouez on March 12. Other esteemed panelists included Bob Woessner (Retired Green Bay-Press Gazette Opinion Page Editor), Rick Cohler (Journalist with Press Times), and Kathryn Bracho from WBAY Action 2 News.
Dr. Bansal shared his perspective on the growing reliance of users on social media for news consumption. He noted that social media companies are generally driven by their motive to optimize for ‘user-engagement’ rather than ‘news-accuracy,’ and discussed the implications of this trend for modern-day government and the future of democracy.
